Colby Daniels tweeet (Kruger Retiring!)

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

I hope we go hard for Moser if this is true

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

Team will be told at 3pm

Sad for both him and the program but the timing seems right. What a great man and such a great representative of the university. OU really couldn't have asked for more after taking over from the mess Capel left the program in.

OU needs to get younger and start recruiting better so McCasland makes sense. You hope OU would reach higher at first though.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

Lon doesn’t deny that he plans to retire to Las Vegas. He loves the people and the area and he owns a $3 million dollar home there. Now that his son is the head coach at UNLV, seems to me the stage is set for a move back to his old stomping grounds where he can enjoy a life of leisure.

If the rumor is true, best of luck to you Coach Kruger!

Joe Golding! I'm half kidding. My wife is an ACU grad, she'd kill me.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

I very much hope it's not true. And if it is, I hope Coach Kruger let Joe C. know months ago. Otherwise, I fear a Capel-esque hire and a stretch of three or four years that will make us wish Lon had never left.

If Kruger leaves, our incoming freshmen might well look elsewhere (and we can be all but certain that none of our seniors will return).

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

How long would a new coach have to bring in transfers and when is the late signing period? Hope most of our guys stay, including the two signees.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

It's true.....obviously, CoachTalk has spoken......

Tad Boyle at Colorado? Steve Henson, maybe?

Man, this news stinks. I fear we're in for a huge slide in our basketball prospects.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

Gotta wonder if COVID helped speed this up. After a career like Lon has had, all the extra stress of dealing with that over the past year, and the potential for himself to come down with it and get really sick, probably helped him make this decision.

I will be PISSED if we look at Henson. He's done nothing to suggest he deserves the OU job.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

ESPN and other outlets are reporting the same.

Thank you, Lon. Took over the program in 2011 and got it back on it's feet. Took us to a final four, developed multiple NBA guards, and ran a clean/solid program.

With that being said, I think it was time for a change. Who knows how that change will work out (good or bad), but it was time. If you look at OU sports as a whole, Joe C has made some great hires across the board. I have faith he will do the same here with the basketball team.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

i think with everyone getting an extra year, and kevin hired at unlv, he saw this as the best and most considerate time for him to leave.

His son getting UNLV sped it up.

Both can be true.

Looking back, there were signs of this earlier in the year. Kevin didn't know he was getting that job earlier in the year. But yeah, I agree that probably didn't hurt in speeding things along.

Re: Colby Daniels tweeet

Appreciate it.

No thanks.

Other than McCaslan? I wonder if this caught anyone in the Athletic Department off guard? In Joe C we trust, so we will see.

Andy Enfiled at USC - his wife is from Mustang :) Doubt this would even be an option, but who knows - OU is a better job than SC, but LA is better than Norman

Jeff Capel begs to disagree.

I wish I had faith in Joe C. in this case, because I think he's a great AD. But he blew it badly in hiring Capel and then had to pay through the nose to get Coach Kruger to come in and clean up the mess.

College hoops is slimy through and through, and there aren't that many coaches out there that can be counted on to do things the right way. I think it's been underappreciated by many that we had a guy at the helm we didn't have to worry about getting us on probation. That's very likely over now.
