“I know it’s a football school, but we’re trying to turn it back into a basketball school as well,” Hield said. “And it’s working. Each year the number of fans coming to games has increased. Once you win, people will come see you. If you lose, no one will come, so I feel we have a chance to turn the culture around.”
Especially if the Sooners keep playing defense like they did in the second half against Dayton, which went a stretch of nearly 11 minutes without scoring a basket.
“Defense wins championships, right?” Hield said with a wink.
