Do you think this is killing Joe C inside?

OU beat three teams OU should have beaten in the Tournament.

You had a good argument going until you said that. The one thing Jeff Capel can be proud of at OU is he won all 4 games in the NCAA Tournament as a higher seed. His two predecessors had an enormous amount of difficulty beating teams "OU should have beaten in the Tournament." Yes, I realize that it's better to get there and lose than not get there at all. However, some of you in your blind hatred for Coach Capel are overplaying your hands with some of your posts, as Denver did with that statement.

All this from a "fan" who admitted to turning our games off once we fall behind.

Given that, how much Sooner basketball could you have possibly watched this year? We've spent the vast majority of this season trailing by double digits.

I'll match my devotion to Sooners hoops alongside yours any day of the week. And you're not even in Sooner Traveler's league.

"Trolls," indeed. This from the "fan" who went on a torch-bearing crusade against Cade Davis. Truly the pot calling the kettle black.

Ah yes the anti Cade crusade. How could I forget. Pot meet kettle. Very underrated post sky.

Fair enough but make a list of the good players. Crocker (Sampson), Cade davis, Ryan wright, Omar Leary, pledger, fitzgerald, Blake and ww? Did I leave anyone off?

I think Cameron Clark has a lot of potential. I would consider him worthwhile. My point was that it's not fair to say Blake is the only worthwhile player.

Sky, you cannot possibly criticize anything about Capel because you do not play competitive ball, per bocabull. *In fact no one can criticize anyone about anything unless they are better than the person they are criticizing, unless of course they are bocabull. *See his post below regarding WW. *Boca, your undying love for Capel is suspect, I am beginning to wonder if you are Mrs Capel.

Please read boca post from today regarding Capel and then his post last year regarding WW.

Skyvue, how much basketball did you play competitively? Do you still play?

I do. There are 20 or so guys at my club that play on a regular basis 3 times a week. Ex D-1 players, ex NBA players, great high school players and average high school player like me. Guess what? 80% of the time I know if my team is going to win based on who is on it. As Barry Swizter said, it's not the Xs and the Os, the the Jimmies and the Joes.

All this whining about Capel is silly. It goes back to a previous statement I made about successful people having a positive outlook. I expect things to go my way and more often than not they do. Capel is the same way. Joe C is the way way. Some people around here. Well just follow their attitude and figure that out for yourself.

Put your own accomplishments next to Willies. How many people have earned the right to criticize this stud?
Most people have accomplishments that are important to them, and probably less important to other people. You are always harping on this, yet you criticize a lot of people all the time. I am sure there are millions of Republicans that have more accomplishments, money, etc than you yet you criticize them and have no respect for them. I remember the other day you making fun of people who make $60,000.00 a year, lol. That kind of crap shouldn't be allowed.*

You are basically saying that because Willie is a better basketball player than me that I (as a fan) can't criticize him, which is the most hilariously ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

What is this drivel? You play basketball at your club 3x a week? Really??? Congrats!

You expect things to go your way just like Capel and Joe C.? So Capel's coaching career @ OU has gone his way or as expected, huh? You are a bad joke.

Its not a secret that TG was set to transfer had Sampson not left for Indiana. TG was not a Sampson fan and was wanting to leave because of his displeasure for Sampson.

When Capel came in, TG believed and trusted in Capel enough to stay at OU. That's when BG came in.

So in reality I think Capel deserves a ton of credit for that recruit, because he did in fact keep TG from transferring.

S4P: I didn't say Capel doesn't deserve credit for signing Griffin but I think we can all agree had Sampson not offered and signed TG then no way does BG even consider OU.

Besides the transfer deal is an Internet rumor anyway and if I had a dollar for every frosh athlete who considered transferring I would be a millionaire many times over.

Very lame post indeed is what that was.

I agree with you in that had he not been offered BG wouldn't have come. But what we don't know is that whether or not Capel would have offered Taylor as well had Capel been the coach at the time.

Actually, it was more substantial than just a message board rumor. It was a veracious statement that Taylor wasn't afraid to hide at the time.

You're right a lot of freshmen do consider transferring, but nevertheless I think Capel deserves credit for earning Taylor's trust that quickly (not saying you weren't giving him credit, just stating in general).

Any reasonable person would of course give him credit for that. Still, the best comment was not giving Coach Capel credit for winning games against lower seeds. This is a school which its two previous head coaches lost 14 NCAA Tournament games to lower-seeded teams. Obviously, Capel needs to get back in the Tournament, but if he does, I feel confident he'll continue to beat lower-seeded teams.

Yes i feel confident that IF he gets us back there he will be able to win a game in the tourney. I'm just not confident he CAN get us back there. At least with Tubbs and Sampson we knew we would be in at least the NIT. I remember when Sampson took a young team to the NIT and we were pretty let down by the season. Now we would consider that a Miracle.

What we don't know is if Sampson had not left, whether Taylor would have remained at OU.

Blake is on record saying that what convinced him to commit/attend OU was Taylor's opinion of Coach Capel.

Coach Capel gets 100% full credit for making the NCAA Tournament one (1) time. That is a tremendous accomplishment!

The question is, do you feel confident that he will get OU there a second time? Or, maybe three times in 10 years? The saga continues.

Not sure, but I think Iowa State makes the tournament every now and then. The OU program is hopefully at least that good.

Coach Capel has made the NCAA Tournament twice during his tenure at OU.

Actually Capel has made the NCAA tournament 3 times. Once at VCU and twice at OU. All this before his 35th birthday. Capel has already won 4 NCAA games at OU. It took Sampson EIGHT years to win 4 NCAA games. Capel not been knocked out of the NCAA by the likes of Manhattan, Indiana St, etc.

The "can't win without Blake" argument is flat out stupid. Are the same people using this logic saying Sampson can't win without Hollis Price? Because outside of fluke cinderella run as a 13 seed he never did.

What we do know is Blake would have never considered OU if Taylor were not here. That is an irrefutable fact. No way those 2 boys play on different teams as they always wanted to play together.

Who was coach is irrelevant because of this fact.

Welcome. I just figured if you're going to criticize the guy, at least give him credit for what he has done by correctly stating the facts.

Considering we lost by 30 to Louisville in the 2nd round, it's excusable if some of us forget we actually played in the NCAA that year.

A team from a power conference should never lose by 30 in the tournament. Period.
