That is all that I want to see for the rest of the season. We saw it against Kentucky. It was nearly non-existant against UVA and the no name school. 1 out of 3 games is not acceptable.

Let's see some freakin effort out there. Dive for loose balls, put your hands up on defense, run back in transition, crash the glass, foul hard if you're going to foul a guy going up for a shot, run out on shooters, hedge with a purpose on screens, don't give up and watch after your guy beats you off the dribble.

E for effort is what I want to see from here on out. And it all falls squarely on this coaching staff. If a guy isn't doing it, put in someone who will. I don't care if its TJ Franklin.

I will agree that there needs to be a better effort out there
:clap

I agree. Effort is truly all I really was looking for this season. I had no loftly expectations when the season began but I did end up being a bit too optimistic after the win over Texas Southern and the "moral victory" over Kentucky.

Reality has now hit me between the eyes and I am back to looking for what I desired before the season started. Tremendous effort and pride. C'mon, guys and coaches...lay it all out there every game and something good will happen. This fan will be satisfied with steady improvement and a bit of hope for the future.:OU-logo:

A new coach next year would be nice too.

When you see post that say all we are looking for this year was effort, then you know that OU's basketball program has fallen off the cliff!Sure you have to have effort but you have to have talent to go with it..I just don't think our coach knows how to mold them both together..GO SOONERS!

I think the lack of effort is the most shocking thing to me. If you don't have superior talent (which is obvious since a DII team has 2 guys that would start for us), then you better by-god bust your ass. When I see our guys turn and look at the ball on a rebound and not block out or make an effort for the ball it makes me want to puke. When I see the other team make a wide-open cut to the basket for a layup due to our defenders not moving their feet it makes me want to throw something at the TV. It really is a sign of bad coaching.

This team has very little talent. Which doesn't explain or excuse the lack of effort. Capel's inability to judge the quality - athletically and otherwise - of recruits has put him (and OU) in a position of having nowhere to go. WW, Tiny and (the worst) TMG Capel couldn't control. He couldn't recruit replacements of even mediocre talent. I'm just waiting to see what he can get out of this bunch. Poor Cade.

Most of us knew this team was young and void of a star player, unless you want to count someone like Cam, who certainly has star potential. That's why effort, hard work and defense have been the focal point of our discussions since before the season began.

We saw all three in the Kentucky game. But effort, hard work and defense were practically non-existent in the last two games, except for Cade and spotty performances by Neal against Virginia and a decent first half from Fitz.

When a 6' 4" guard leads the team in rebounding with six against Chimanade, that tells me all I need to know about how hard our front court played. Rebounding is a lot about wanting the ball more than your opponent. Fitzgerald and Thompson with 3 each (are you kidding me?!!!), Clark with 1 (pathetic for an athlete like him) says it all. Honore' had 3 and Neal only 1, but their minutes were limited to 12 each. Washington was the only bright spot with 4 in 13 minutes.

This team may not be the most talented squad we've had, but there is no excuse for the way they played to close out their trip to Maui. If Capel can't motivate his players to give it their all to be in a position to win games, he needs to step aside and let someone else do it. I bought into what he was selling last year, because I knew he was dealing with a few key players who already had one foot out the door. I'm not buying that excuse this season! Time to man up and earn his pay!!!

These players are not disciplined that's why 6 games into the season our season is all ready over

Where is Faithful? How is he holding up?

I have a feeling Faithful is searching for something positive to say. To his credit, he usually finds it. Sure wish I could follow his lead right now, but I can't.
