@franfraschilla: Haven't been to OU yet, but one of my NBA scout buddies is impressed with overall depth. Cousins/Woodard excellent complement to Buddy H.

Woodard has to be better this year if the team is going to make the leap and be a legit Final Four contender. I think he will, but he is an important factor in how this team will do this season.

They all have to be better. we had a chance last year, couple shots fall and MSU is win and good shot at the next one!

Playing on the big stage last year will help. Can't underestimate playing in those types of games.

If LK can develop some inside scoring, look out. I like how this team is shaping up with depth, athleticism, length, and experience.

Guards should be fine. My concern is points in the paint. If we don't get production down low, we'll end up being a jump shooting team again.

Offensively, I don't see much production down low. This team will have to hit jump-shots consistently to go deep in March. Not a whole lot different than last year.

TONS of teams make it deep without much scoring down low.

MSU last season had hardly ANY production in the low post.

The UCONN team that won it in 2014 had almost no production down low either, they just rode out on Napier, Boatright, and DeAndre Daniels, all guards.

Teams win in March because of GUARDS, and that is what we've got, in dominant supply.

You need good defensive post players, but scoring down low isn't necessary if you have good guard depth. We definitely have good starting guards. Depth is a little unknown at this point.

I thought Woodard made a huge step forward from his freshman year to his sophomore year. As a freshman he wasn't a very good defender, and offensively he either drove wildly or tried a 3 point set shot. Last year he was much much better defensively and added a jump shot. I expect similar improvement this year. He's smart and is strong as a bull, and his confidence will be much higher as an upperclassman.

I tend to agree, although I think Manyang and Buford will be a pleasant surprise down low offensively.

I'm not saying no aspects of his game improved, but from an offensive efficiency stand point, he was worse. Was about 15% worse from three point land. Averaged fewer assists per game. More turnovers per game. Less FT attempts per game.

And often was just a body late in games. We need him to be better.

Low post scoring is not the gold standard, not if you can beat your man with the dribble or be good at pick and roll or pick and pop.

I totally agree. He didn't progress as much as I thought he would. To me, he's the key on D. If he keeps his man in front of him we are final four good.

First part of the year Woodard didn't play that good. 2nd half of the year he was much better.
