Is not fantastic. Won the first round game both times only to lose to the 6 seed, Purdue in 2000 and Utah in 2005.

Blech.

Last tme LK was a 3?

Final 4!

I had just come back to post this. Nice find! I just don't trust this team yet. Need to see 40 consecutive minutes of defensive intensity and offensive execution. We could do it if we can get that ...

Ancient history. The oldest guys on this team were in middle school the last time OU was a 3.

That said, Providence is quietly a really tough #6. They've got one of the best PGs in the country, and their lead scorer is a 6'6" wing that can really light it up. They beat Notre Dame and went toe to to with Villanova. OU will have earned the Sweet 16 if they beat Providence.

I have a feeling that Dayton beats Providence. IMO, I believe that Dayton may be the most underseeded team in the tournament (along with Wichita State and VCU). And they are playing in their own back yard (Columbus). Don't be suprised if we are playing Dayton on Sunday afternoon in a hostile environment.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I totally agree that Dayton is underseeded, but I'd love to see Dayton over Providence. I just think we match up better with Dayton. They have no size (biggest starter is 6'6") and they have worse depth problems than OU. They're only 6 or 7 deep with their only backup big being a 6'6" walkon (think CJ Cole as OU's first big off the bench), and if they make it to Sunday, it would be their 6th game in 9 days (3rd in 5). That would be a tough stretch for an NBA team with a 10 player rotation.

Their obvious advantage would be home court, but I'm not sure even that would be enough to overcome that kind of grueling stretch.

LOL. If they haven't convinced you in 32 games it ain't gonna happen.

I get it, we play below ourselves at times. But I'm hoping the ultimate win or go home scenario is good for these guys.

Albany is about on the same level as Texas Tech, maybe a little better. Look at the two Tech games and that's about the range I see for this game - could be a 25 or 30 point win, could fool around and let Albany take it at the buzzer.

Yep according to Kenpom, they are just slightly better than Tech. I don't anticipate they will have the athletic ability of Tech, but they will be a better team with better shooters.

Basketball – especially the way the Sooners play – is a game of runs. Ups and downs. Peaks and valleys. You just won't see 40 minutes of the kind of intensity mentioned in a previous post.

The closest we've come to doing that was in that huge home win over Texas Tech. But even then, we experienced lulls where we didn't score much and looked kind of ragged.

With our players, the kind of effort we gave Friday night against ISU would give us a win against almost 90 percent of the teams in the country on most nights. JMO.

If we are a consensus 3 seed, then shouldn't we have been in the top 12 in all the polls?
