If Lon left (retired), who would be the next big hire? I think I've seen enough of the Kruger type team so I wouldn't want to see Henson be the next coach. I want a splash of a hire like Lincoln Riley was to the football team. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate Lon and what he has done, especially the final four, but in my opinion it might be time to move on. Could just be frustration and disappointment of the way things finished on my part but you never know what might happen.

Riley was not a splash hire. Glad they hired him but a splash hire is Michigan landing harbaugh or a&m landing jimbo.

Lon needs to improve his assistants. If he doesn’t, then we will go down with them.

Steve Henson.

Edit: Not my first choice, but that's who it would be.

Henson would be great...that's who I would hire.

I want them to back the truck up, unload some money, and hire a proven coach. Bennet from UVA, Wright from Nova, I would even go after Kelvin again. I think I remember lots of rumors of trying to get Wright from years ago and didn't they also try to get Geno from UCONN?

No, go get Henson!

I agree, I think it would be Henson but personally I don't know if I'm ready for that. Not saying it wouldn't turn out to be a good hire, just ready for something else, mostly a team that plays tough and lock down defense.

They would never leave those schools but i would die from excitement except geno

Not sure if they'd come but Greg Marshall or Buzz Williams.

Greg Marshall would be a splash hire. He is my first choice since I doubt kelvin would happen.

I'd rather not hire a thin-skinned, ego maniac with an insane family to lead our program! Fortunately, we have a better coach who has given no indication he plans on leaving soon.

I’d rather have the version of Lon we hired (which included incredible assistant coaches) over Marshall. Unfortunately, that Lon is not what we have right now, and the nepotism will not allow for it to be corrected. As such, I would probably take Marshall and his baggage right now.

Marshall is going to stay at Wichita until he retires. I want a coach that’s a teacher - we ve lost that since 2015 and all the low b-ball IQ that keeps costing us games is a result of poor coaching. If that means bringing Henson back let’s go.

Just a fun fact...

Lon is now 3-13 in overtime games at OU.

I would be curious about close games. I don’t mean games that finish class se. I mean games that are under 5 points with 3 minutes or something like that.

The best thing about Sampson was I felt very comfortable in close games b
