***Jarion Henry commits***

Re: ******Jarion Henry commits*****

It really seems like CLK is really getting it done recruiting. A class of 3 top 150 guys to a program that has been down in recent years is huge. No wonder the guy turns programs around.

Re: ******Jarion Henry commits*****

I'm not sure if I'm more excited about the talent he is bringing in here or what he is going to be able to do with that talent once it is here. I think it is safe to say that Lon Kruger has surpassed any of our expectations early on. We can only hope that trend continues with wins this season.

I watched him play against the Houston Hoops last summer. He was the most physically talented player on the court (Hoops had Rasheed Sulaimon, LJ Rose, Jymchal Reese, Keith Frazier). He pounded the boards like a madman. He couldn't shoot very well and his emotions were not in check. He tried to punch a kid during the game but the ref had his back turned. The potential is very high. The emotional baggage may be high too. But if he can get that under control and work on his shot, he has all league potential.

The biggest impression Henry made on the staff was his maturity. The staff was aware of past issues. He proved those issues were in the past.

Yes Sir! Welcome, Jarion.

Like father; like son.

DFWHoopster -- a friend of mine is a college assistant coach and recruiter (can't disclose who). He has been telling me for a couple years that he thought Henry had immense talent, but also was a string bean and extremely immature. I know they wanted him, and generally, I think his recruiting has been grossly under appreciated or reported. I was told that a ton of schools "stayed" in contact with him and kept the lines of communication open and just continued to monitor him, just waiting to see if he was going to mature and get his grades in order. I was always told he was not anticipated to make his grades. Will reported somewhere on this board that he almost did. I was told he wouldn't but I don't guess anyone but the kid is really going to know that until the very end.

So, if the real story is that he went to prep school, got his grades in order, grew up a little and also has physically matured some (taller and bigger), then this could be real pickup. I guess we will see. I haven't ever seen him play but I am told he can be big time. So, if there is any chance he has or can get his life and head going in the right direction, I really think, particularly being a legacy, that this is a good gamble.

He was described to me as a tay prince type, e.g. tall, thin, near point handles with both hands, with inside and outside offensive game, laterally quick but not a real bouncy kid. For those of us who haven't seen him, do you think this is a good description?

I think the Tay Prince comparison is pretty good. I've seen Jarion a couple of times when he was younger and always came away impressed.

Is he as capable with the six-shooters as his Daddy once was?

he is way more fearless than Prince in my opinion. He is not afraid to take it hard to the rim. Doesn't shoot as well as Prince.

Outstanding news!!!

Welcome to the Sooner family, Jarion! :woot

All 3 Oklahoma commits broke by OUhoops.com.

Really I don't know why the other boards even try with basketball coverage. It fails miserably to this board. There is only one place to go for OU basketball coverage and it is right here. You'd think scout, rivals, 247sports, ... would be offering these guys good money to join their network.

read on rivals that he's petitioning the NCAA clearinghouse to become eligible in january.. in time for conference play...

seriously very impressive. love this board

Really do appreciate those comments guys. Sam and William have worked really, really hard to get the info they get, and without asking for much of anything in return. Very impressed and proud of them.
