Good day at Portsmouth yesterday for Sooners @Rspangler15 who had 10 and 6 and @FRAGG_NATiON (Isaiah) with 18 and 11 #BoomerSooner

Both had good tounaments, but Isiah was a standout shooting at least 50% from the field in every game. They each played 3 games. The game Kevin referred to they were on opposing teams. Cousins had 18 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. I know in his final game which they won by 1 point, he had 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. His other game he had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

In Ryan's other 2 games, he had 6 points and 9 boards, and in his final game he had 14 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 assists.

What's Portsmouth?

The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) is an invitational tournament where they invite 64 seniors to play on 1 of 8 teams. They go down the list as players decline the invitation. 1st rounders like Buddy usually decline. Over 200 scouts from the NBA and overseas are in attendance. This link explains it. PIT explanation

Isaiah made the all-tournament team. Here's all the stats: PIT overall stats by player

Thanks, I didn't know what it was either.

Does it give players a legit chance to improve their stock in the eyes of the NBA scouts?

Most of these guys are fringe players. 4-8 of them will be 2nd round picks. Some of them will play in the summer and/or D league. The rest of them have a good shot at playing overseas if he wants to.

It was a big deal in the past. All of the European players and guys skipping it has lessened the impact of it.

Definitely does not hold the weight it once did. Aaron McGhee went up there and dominated in 2002 and still couldn't get drafted.

I think somebody takes a flier on Isiaih in the second round. He is a long, reasonably athletic point guard that can shoot the 3.

Spangler should have a long career in Europe if he wants one.

Be interesting to see if that is what he wants or not. I'd guess if he does play overseas, it won't be for very long.

I don't know why, but I feel the same way. I think Cousins will play as long as he can.

why would you guess that? Don't they pay pretty well at his level? I see Ryan being a pretty high level player just outside of NBA level. Not many guys can rebound like him and shoot like him. Lots can do one or the other but not both.

Ryan is not going to be a high end player overseas. He won't be bottom of the bucket either, but he'd be somewhat average.

It just doesn't pay all that well, sometimes you end up playing in less than desirable places, and honestly, I just don't see him being interested in it. Seems like a smart kid that could make more money doing something else in the states. He may want to coach. I think he has a gf that likely won't want to live abroad for several years. He is close to his family, who won't be overseas.

He may very well want to play in Europe for 10 years. I just doubt it. For the reasons (which I admit, is speculative) noted above.

If Ryan's pro career doesn't work out, I would like to see him as a coach at OU someday, maybe as a GA at first, and an assistant later on. I think he would make a great coach. He's bright, articulate, and he communicates well with people of all ages. I can't think of anyone more worthy than a young man from Oklahoma who gave his all for the program and the university.

He was a top rebounder in the Big XII for three seasons. I think he will be paid well. It will be interesting to see.
