Khavon Moore down to OU and Texas Tech

That’s one thing we agree on. I have asked this question more than once. What have those two done to develop our current players, improve our defense and recruit better talent?

Coach Krutchfield’s reputation as a recruiter and a coach is not in question. He was the lead assistant with TY, and with Jamal Bieniemy, a signee in our 2018 class I’m very excited about. He is also the assistant credited with a commitment from 2019 PG, De’Vonte Harmon, who I think will be a super star at OU someday.

My question is about the other two, who are now in their second season? If someone out there has the answer, I’ll be happy to move on and never bring it up again.

If I remember correctly, Hartman was supposed to have some in-roads on International players but outside of Polla, there hasn't been much there.

Wow. A month ago I when I was trying to derive some positives about recruiting and the future I was super excited that we were getting this 5-star. We had apparently beaten out Florida for his services. Now, we're losing him to Texas Tech? Yeah they've had a good year, great for them but what world am I living in? Sheesh. So we have Bienemy and some lightly recruited guy committed.

Could mean that Young is coming back and nobody else is leaving, who knows. But man, it's fair to question recruiting here not even two years removed from a final four... Disappointing to say the least.

Went from final four, 5 star committment, recruiting buzz, new stadium buzz to what we have now. its a shame we didn't capitalize on what hield, woodard, and cousins built

Hartman had nothing to do with Polla. Kruger coached his Finland coach in the NBA. That connection was all Lon Kruger.

Exactly.

I get lectured by other OU fans that OU isn't a basketball blueblood so don't hold your breath being able to get any 5 stars. Then Texas Tech swoops in LOL. Well, maybe we can aspire to get the kind of recruits Texas Tech gets some day!

Moore picks Tech (obviously) - so we saving this schollie for 18 now ?

Heard he committed to Texas Tech over the weekend.

Heard we may of backed off because of the injury... TT pushed for a now or offer is gone.

Exactly!

Crutchfield brought in Trae, Manyang, Manek, Odomes, Shepherd and Lazenby. Bieniemy is on board for next year. Harmon in 2019.

I don’t have a clue about Kur Kauth?

Thanks....Polla was the only International player that I thought he might have been in on since Freeman was already signed.

That sounds like cya to me. Who do they have to replace him?

Good question. Technically we don’t have a scholarship to give. We had 1 coming into this season and only have 1 senior. We signed Jamal Bienemy and have a commitment from Kur Kuath. Of course, when/if Trae declares for the NBA we will have another one open up.

We will need a good PG more than we needed Khavon Moore IMHO. I bet we lose a player or two due to transfer ..... like Dante Buford last year.

Yep. When Trae leaves, we'll have 3 total scholarships available with 2 coming in.

2019 5* PG from Georgia (Hagans) just decommitted from UGA and reclassified to 2018. A lot of big programs were hopeful for him, but they're all filled for 2018. He originally committed to UGA because he's from there, and said he wanted to be like Trae Young was for OU. He decommitted because UGA is likely going to fire their coach.

I doubt we go for him, considering we never went for him before, but would be at least smart to place a call to him. He's a 1 and done guy as well.

We will need a PG more than Moore, that's for sure. He's really good but doesn't really fit the need the team will have. I've thought all along we'd probably go for a grad transfer PG to hold down the fort until Harmon comes in and that's still what I'm going with.

I hope you’re right about the grad transfer. No way I want to see us do anything that will give De’Vonte second thoughts. He’s the real deal!

Ugh...not what I wanted to read. Hopefully, someone with some inside info (thankfully, there are a few on this Board) can find out WHY we went from a lock to losing this guy.

We badly need some big-time players in this program with the likely loss of Young. I don't think there will be a shortage of scholarships available, either. We lose a player to transfer pretty much every year (regardless who the head coach is), and don't see why this year will be any different.
