Kris Martin - Commit

can’t imagine we would take a guy who isn’t immediately eligible, and then only have one year to play.

Full release just means there are no restrictions on which school he can transfer to, doesn't apply to sitting out a year.

Looks like a bouncy, athletic shooter... very nice pickup. Doesn't solve the PG problem but definitely helps with the shooter problem. Basically means OU doesn't need someone like Devonte Bandoo from Hutch now. Can focus on a point guard and a big.

Really, really like this if eligible immediately.

We needed some good news! Welcome, Kris, hope you came to work!

that seems to be the big ?....IF..

Like others have said, I cannot imagine he isn't. IF he isn't this was a really poor move.

It would end up a one year stopgap for losing James/Odomes

Either way I’m fine with it. Just hoping for best

I mean, we all want to see improvement next year, but just think two years from now you've got Martin (Sr) and Bienemy with a year under his belt likely starting on the wings. That's some nice length out there defensively. Both look like they're solid shooters who can also score well off the bounce.

Pair that with Harmon at PG, and then if they get Jalen Wilson (Harmon's teammate) to play that stretch four role that could be really nice. You've also got Manek and Doolittle (and Kuath, Freeman and Polla). Need a couple more guards, but that's got potential.

Someone quickly knock me off my positivity perch. :)

even if it's a yr wait? I thought all the experts said 1 more defector..

I'm not into taking guys to just take guys I guess. I remember the yr I believe KS had 8 scholarship guys...10 on roster...that sucked but they still played with heart.

I think the “one more defector” was going to be Freeman, but he decided to stay.

OUHoops posters get their wish, Kruger retires at the end of the year next year, Harmon decommits, OU's 2019 class has 2 signees that are JUCO/Unranked players

Did I knock you off?

NCAA is working on a rule to allow players to be immediately eligible after transferring should a coach leave. It hasn't passed yet but was discussed in January.

Sweet. I would think he would be eligible since his coach was fired and he didn't play last year. I'm sure it will require a waiver from the NCAA.

dang ... coach out of the blocks quick with this one. gives me hope. nice job on their parts.

He's had 2 pretty good games against us, '15 (15 points) and '16 (19).
