I'm surprised there isn't a topic on this from last night.

“Brannen Greene, we’ve put up with him doing some stuff in the past, but that was probably the biggest dick move I’ve ever had a player do during a game."

Makes you wonder how much longer Greene will be on the roster for Bill Self as it's not the first issue he's had with Greene.

I just posted about it too. lol

Here is what I put in my post on the other thread:

Bill was pretty pissed off and I would expect Green may not be back next year. Self already suspended him earlier in the season for being a "detriment to the team".

I've always admired Self, even though he played at OSU and coaches at KU, he's a class guy. I love the fact he called it a "total dick move" on the postgame radio. When has a coach ever said those words in relation to this team?

Remember when the Lucas kid (OSU) did the same thing to us in 05? Sutton didn't think it was a big deal.

After seeing it, I guess it was kind of dickish, but I didn't think it was THAT big of a deal. I've seen much much worse.

Bill Self and "class guy" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

don't see why it is such a big deal if this was the only incident.

Either self hammers into his team that what he did is not acceptable or he is just tired of this kid. I can't imagine he would make this comment if somebody like ellis had done this.

Right, it wasn't like the guy did a chin-up on the rim and screamed. He just kind of casually half-dunked it. Still wrong, but not a huge deal IMHO.

Really lame by Green, who i can't stand.. but still for an adult coach to refer to it as a dickhead move in the national media... if i were the parent of that tard, self and i would be having a conversation

If you are going to put guys in at the last who didn't get very many minutes, then who cares. If you want someone to run out the clock, keep your starters in. Don't put your bench in and ask them to not score. KSU should have not quit before the time ran out. I'm sorry but theres a difference between someone like Ellis dunking and Greene.

He might not have played much last night, but Greene averages the 5 most minutes on that team.

Self didn't empty his bench and this happened (some of the starters were still in). Greene plays a lot for them and is an upperclassman.

Self obviously doesn't like Greene or his attitude much.

Yeah after my post I went and looked up his stats. I was expecting he was a non factor and only played in mop up. he is actually a decent role player.

So maybe a little bit bigger of a dick mover than I originally thought

If someone had done that to a Kim Mulkey team, she would have had apoplexy on the spot.

Lucas was a punk then and Greene is a punk now. I appreciate Self saying something about it and I hope he suspends him. Says as much about him as it said about Sutton when he blew off what Lucas did. Kids reflect their coaches. Sutton had ethical/class issues and it explains why he was ok with his kid acting like a jerk. Self is made of better stuff, IMO.

I'm willing to bet Self has discussed with the team what he wants from them at the end of a game like that. Everyone on the court but Greene was standing flatfooted and waiting for the final seconds to tick off.

Greene is averaging 14 minutes and seven points per game this season; that's more than Walker is averaging for us. So it's not as though he's a guy from the end of the bench who never sees any action.

Greene was a top 50 recruit a few years ago as well. He didn't play much in the Michigan State game and supposedly got into a heated argument with Self and Self suspended him for 6 games.

I think you're right about Greene and the fact it was against Webber who seems to always be coaching in the same state as Self. So they go back to the days when they both coached in Illinois.

I also think that this boiled over because Self was already pissed about the lack of rebounding and hustle from his team.
