KU vs K-State end of game

Right, it wasn't like the guy did a chin-up on the rim and screamed. He just kind of casually half-dunked it. Still wrong, but not a huge deal IMHO.

I wouldn't mind it as much if K-State was still playing defense. All of their guys were gathered together about to walk to their bench. I'm in the group that thinks Greene is gone next year.

Well, the difference is Self didn't think that highly of the talent Williams left him. He likes guys who play defense and when he first arrived at KU he said once "defense to these guys is throwing the ball in and going back upcourt". However, what Self left Weber fit into Weber's scheme because he coaches defense too. I doubt Self would have recruited Miles, or Langford. Maybe Simien since he was a local kid.

I believe Miles is the all time assist leader at KU. Not 100% sure on that.
Simien was beast of a post player. And Giddens was his player. Langford was solid to.

Self demands his players to play defense. Both of the teams he had with those guys were early NCAA exits which is proof they couldn't play in his system.

I wasn't a fan of Miles. He was overrated.

Like I said, Self wouldn't have recruited Miles or Langford because they don't play defense.

Thats not true. The 1st year with them, they went to the elite 8.

You are right, they did.

I still say he wouldn't sign those guys if he had to re-recruit them. His recruiting has been much better than Williams ever did at KU and totally different. Self likes defense, Williams likes offense.

Oh I think he clearly wanted to embarrass him and I think he is to the point he doesn't want Greene around anymore. I would be surprised if he plays much after last night and if returns next season.

Stoops has been pretty quick with his tongue when he's been exasperated by players. He probably wouldn't use the words "dick move" though.

I bet he plays a bunch in the next game ..

Maybe watch a game sometime so you are more informed.:facepalm

Quite logical to assume that after the ISU/EJ occurrence Self has emphasized to his team that such should never happen again and Green merely ignored the warning.

It's a pet peeve of mine when people quit the game early.. they pass the ball to the ref before the time is up ect.. so even tho kstate had given up. They should still be between the goal and ball

I like Self and agree with him. Don't know if I want my coach using those exact words, but I'm fairly certain it's the only thing BG understands

Again...I totally disagree with that statement. That team with Paul Pierce, Ostertag, Vaughn, LaFrentz, Pollard

Even the one with Gooden, Collison, Hinrich, Boschee, Simien, Langford and Miles.

Even Self's championship team would have a hard time beating those teams.

So, Self never refers to Weber by name. Ever. On the radio he always says "he" or "the guy" or "that guy" but never by name. It's fairly well known here in the KC market that some animosity exists between the 2. Not sure if the animosity is related to when they recruited against each other in Illinois or if related to Weber taking over for Self when he left for KU and that was the team Self and Kruger built that went to the final game. I don't think Weber ever gave Self any credit or something like that is what I heard.

Greene has been in the doghouse all season and I'm guessing if it had been a different player or if it hadn't been against Weber/KSU then Self may not have said anything but it happened to be the "perfect storm".

probably has to do with the funeral

Yeah but not during the game like that.
personal fouls and dirty plays happen all the time in games. Much worse than a player dunking a ball.

I will say when Bomar made that dick move vs Oregon Stoops was pretty candid with him on the field. I've never seen him go after a QB like that before or after that happened. I bet if someone had stuck a mic in his face right after it happened he may have said much worse than calling it a "dick move".
I highly doubt it

and for the record, I'm guessing self had time to cool off before the dick move comment

Don't like or dislike Bill Self – in fact, I rarely think about him at all.

But if Self suddenly starts practicing political correctness (as a few posters seem to believe he should), I'll like him a whole lot less.

"Political correctness" being such a catch-all term and concept, can you be more specific? Is it the posters who think it's bad sportsmanship to run up the score in the final seconds of a game that is already won, or the people who think a coach for a state university using the term "dick move" to describe the actions of one of his players that you object to?

Thinking that using the term dick move in regards to a college athlete is over the top has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with appropriateness.

You obviously missed my point, skyvue. I really wasn't "objecting" to anything or anyone. But I don't agree with those who want to make Self the villain in this incident. Self's reaction to what Greene did was his way of making a point. If the kid's feelings were hurt, maybe he should be playing somewhere else.

The post below is an example of the extent to which political correctness has permeated our society:

Really lame by Green, who i can't stand.. but still for an adult coach to refer to it as a dickhead move in the national media... if i were the parent of that tard, self and i would be having a conversation
