March Madness and Covid-19

First of all, rarely do people cry. Second, that doesn't really take into account the magnitude of the situation. Elections have consequences... This particular election held our country back, and set the clock back quite a ways. Not so much the Presidential election, but the Democratic Primary election when they put Hillary up instead of Bernie.

I saw more people bawl their eyes out after this election than I've ever seen before. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life. Embarrassing even.

It may have held the country back IN YOUR OPINION, but that is not a fact. Just b/c you want us to go a certain direction doesn't mean the majority of the country wants the same thing.

Trump and people who think like him are not the future of America. We need a reform candidate for some badly needed generational reforms. Reforms like what we got in the 1930's under FDR, or in the 60's under LBJ. Bernie really isn't that different than those guys, who brought reforms that changed the fabric of America for the better.

We'll see. Generations change. People change. Culture, economics, the general world environment all change. People thought when the children of the 70's grew up there would be a big shift toward liberalism. As that generation grew up, that shift never really occurred. Much like every other thing on this planet, there is an ebb and flow. Once we start going too far one direction, it flows back the other. If you think this country is ever going to be run like Bernie Sanders wants to run it for more than a couple of terms, you are crazy. It won't happen. It'll turn right back towards conservatism. That's the way of the world.

Nicely done. No President is immune to this kind of speech.

Not knowing how many people live in Seoul? Fine, no problem easy mistake to make even though he didn’t answer the question & was getting mad about the question. But saying you know more about every subject is narcissistic & dishonest.

Forward?

Yes, every year we have a spike in flu-like symptoms. "Flu Season."
It's bad science to look at an anecdotal case like the Princess Cruise Lines mass infection and extrapolate that to the entire population. You can't say this started "much earlier," because the data does not support that (depending on what you mean by "much"). If it had been here much earlier, then the ICUs would have been packed much earlier. It's just a fact. Now if you mean a couple of weeks earlier, then I will agree with you, there is some lag time obviously because of incubation periods.

(Look at the last paragraph in the article you posted, the author states "a whole country is not a ship." He's right and that's why you have to take these with a grain of salt. We have literally thousands of data points right now besides the extremely few talked about in this article)

You can't extrapolate the Diamond Princess cruise to an entire population -- because that would actually be a much worse scenario! A cruise is like reverse social distancing! That's why norovirus is so bad on cruise ships.

But the information gleaned from the Diamond Princess cruise is relatively close to what's been actually seen. The DP cruise data has actually been reproduced! Not the other way around. So yeah, it's a pretty good case study.

Great article from The Lancet which I referenced earlier.

If that is how you want to view it, fine. I view it more as a character flaw. He's behaved a certain way for a number of years because that is what sold in terms of him being on tv, and being in business. He's almost created a caricature of himself, and that is simply how he acts now.

And I'll say this again. While I don't love how he speaks to and about people at times, I care more about his politics and results than I do his words. This country is no more divided than we were under Bush or Obama. But yeah, Trump is dividing us. What a bunch of crap. What Trump had done before this virus was revitalize the economy, get people working and jobs back in the states, get people off welfare, and all of the other stuff that goes along with that. EVERYBODY should be thrilled with those results. He also did things that matter to me. He's gotten some conservatives on the SC and other lower level courts. He's stood tall against what would be worthless and DIVIDING gun control. And for all your dems that thought he'd run in there and kill ObamaCare, he's done nothing of the sort. And guess what Republicans have done about that? Absolutely nothing. I haven't heard a Rep say a damn thing about OC since maybe early in year 2 of Trumps' presidency. Funny how that gets no media attention.

It's not forward to everybody. It's just "a different direction than we're going now." The truth is we probably aren't going back or forward, but rather side to side. I can admit that. Doubt you can.

A lot of people try to get into his head for differing reasons but to me he mostly plays the role of an entertainer as if the lights are on and the camera is rolling. He's playing a character that really doesn't reveal who he truly is. Some of this is due in part to his understanding that he knows there are plenty of politicians who hates his guts. He doesn't want to reveal his true self to them because it will make him vulnerable so he deviates from that at all costs. It is his way of protecting himself.

Narcissism & dishonesty is quite a character flaw for a president. I don’t think we were close to as divided as we are now (people driving cars through protests), but have your opinion. I don’t want conservatives or liberals in the courts, I want moderates. How has he stood tall on gun control? He just didn’t do anything. He tried to kill ObamaCare. He said to get rid of it and then they would come up with the best health care ever. Then Congress said they’d have to see a plan before they would get rid of it. He came up with a terrible plan, ObamaCare remained, and he hasn’t touched the subject since. Also increasing the military budget to get the wall paid for by America & increasing our debt wasn’t what was promised. He’s improved the economy greatly, so did Obama & he did it with regulations & caring about other stuff like the environment & foreign relations. Getting people off welfare is great, big plus.

Being politically correct all the time wears me out, not a fan of the social justice police over every little thing. However, becoming more aware of social decency is a good thing...or at least it was.

This isn’t a character on a tv show, it’s the president of the United States. He is who he is.

I hear Trump supporters rattle off these points often to demonstrate that Trump was doing a good job before the outbreak, but it always leads me to questions. What measurement supports this argument that he revitalized and boosted the economy? Along with that, what specific policies did Trump enact and promote that resulted in a good economy, good employment numbers, and all the other stuff your referencing?

If it really was because of him, it should be easy to cite what he did.

Personally, I think any president takes too much credit for cycles in the market/economy and very few actually “turn” the economy.

Look at the last 6 quarters of the Obama administration and tell us what direction GDP was moving. The average gdp was 1.58%

------------------------------------------------

Factory jobs returning to the country

Tax cuts

Deregulation

Increased consumer and business optimism

Increased wages

Show me one quote where President Obama led off by saying “I know more about [insert topic| than anyone...” and then went on to prove that he’s a complete idiot about said topic. Trump does it almost daily. Also, at least President Obama had the grace to apologize to people he inadvertently offended. Let me know when Trump apologizes to anyone for his vile behavior. He screams at journalists just trying to do their jobs every day.

Of course, you guys always bring up the 57 states thing, as if anyone on earth believes he doesn’t know how many states there are. He clearly misspoke. Trump doesn’t misspeak, he’s just an imbecile and a toxic narcissist.

Oh boy, i hoped one of the libs opened that door. Now admit that you're wrong and this critique is stupid or you're just a dumb partisan. Behold:

“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”

This quote was attributed to Obama by Patrick Gaspard, who was Obama’s first White House political director, in an interview with The New Yorker in November 2008.

Lol, one alleged remark supposedly said in private and not followed up by proving that he’s an idiot as opposed to dozens of statements in front of the entire world all followed up by profound stupidity and narcissism. And if President Obama did say that (it’s hearsay so we can’t be sure) he was saying he was better at those things than HIS speechwriter and HIS political director. He wasn’t saying he was the best in the whole world. There’s a big difference between saying you’re a better speechwriter than your speechwriter in private and saying you’re the best speechwriter in the whole world in public. If you say nobody knows South Korea better than you, for the entire world to see, and then you get the population of their capital city wrong by a factor of 4, what does that say about you? What if Mike Gundy had a press conference and he said, “I know OU football better than anyone! They’ve won 32 national championships!” Everyone would say “wow what a dumb narcissist.”

We finally agree on something!

My niece was a freshman at Syracuse during the 2016 election. The next day, one of her professors broke down and cried in the classroom...even encouraged the students to protest. When she told her dad (my brother - who is definitely right of center), he called someone high up at the university to basically say this: "I pay 40 @#$%%^& thousand dollars a year for my daughter to go to school here so she can LEARN...not hear one of her professor's cry like a baby over a presidential election, and then encourage his students to protest!" Fortunately, any further crying done by that professor was done outside the classroom.

Is it still in the experimental phase?

Do you find it odd?

We have a board member who's an "Orange Man."

Trump may be a narcissist, but Obama is the narcissistic poster boy. His favorite topic? You guessed it...himself. Case in point, a speech in Germany last April where he referred to himself 392 times.
