Sorry, but that is what I got from your last sentence in post #247.
And I stand by that sentence, but never said or implied he’s the only problem.

We can be more aware and that's certainly the best response, but people will be people. Remember Y2K? It's rather hard to predict the response to certain stimuli. Have you visited your local supermarket as of late? I have a few times over the past week and there are no more people in the store, as the parking lot is no more full. Am I supposed to believe this all falls on the shoulders of a single person? Of course not for we know better.
Experts told us Y2K wouldn’t be an issue. Experts said this is a huge deal, potus went against that.
This is great information....I appreciate you educating me on this. I had one other question. I've heard the expression "stock prices have no memory". I don't know if it's true or not, but wanted to see if you could clarify and falsify that.
And I'm sure you know this, but hedge funds dominate the true moves in the market as they took it up and now they are taking it down. They will be the ultimate "line in the sand" as it relates to the bottom being found.
Hedge funds make up only about 4% of the S&P market cap and the average hedge fund underperformed the S&P 500 last year 28%-10%. Wouldn’t call that domination
What drives the market more than anything is program and electronic trading, led by passive investments and money managers
And I stand by that sentence, but never said or implied he’s the only problem.
New statement from the NCAA regarding coronavirus:
“The NCAA continues to assess how COVID-19 impacts the conduct of our tournaments and events. We are consulting with public health officials and our COVID-19 advisory panel, who are leading experts in epidemiology and public health, and will make decisions in the coming days.”
I wonder if they'd let some parts of the country (less infected) play with fans, while banning fans in others? Seems like to be fair, they probably need to be consistent.
The problem with that is that people might travel from parts of the country that have a higher concentration of infections to a part of the country with no or few infections. You can see why this might be a problem.
I read that article this morning and it's hard to disagree with the points made.
Our society is still at odds with Covid-19.... Many people don't accept it. It seems to be the more conservative crowd that thinks it's either the media to blame, or that it's entirely a hoax, or that it's not something to be feared even if you do get it, etc.
At my place of business and the clients we deal with, many are taking no precautions, while others are taking all the precautions. Some don't care about getting it or spreading it, others are doing everything they can to prevent getting it.
As with most things in American society, there is no overwhelming consensus. The President of the US tweeted yesterday that we should be more scared of the flu, which his base reads and believes. The flu has a vaccine and a treatment, neither are true for Covid-19. But, his base doesn't research anything... They just seem to accept what he says at face value. Like that his administration is approving new dishwashers, and looking into improved toilets.
Consensus likely won't happen unless there are significant body bags like in Italy or China.
All of that relates to the NCAA Tournament because cancelling it will be a huge ordeal and draw a lot of criticism... Probably the biggest step yet we have seen in the country. March Madness, The World Series, The Super Bowl, College Football Playoff, etc are big deals in this country.
You cancel March Madness... then why not cancel the PGA Tour season? Cancel The Masters... Cancel baseball, etc.
I am not saying those things might not need to be done, I am just saying that the decision made with March Madness will set a precedent. It's the first major event that will be shut down, and there will be shock waves.
Btw, just fit a breaking news alert, covid-19 cases just topped 1,000 in America. 13 days ago they were at 15.
I agree with everything you said, and the truth of the matter is, deaths are already piling up and it's only going to get worse.
The NCAA takes a lot of cues from the NBA and the NBA is very seriously considering playing in empty arenas. If that happens expect the NCAA to follow suit. I actually don't think they will cancel the event, just play it for a television audience.
or that it's not something to be feared even if you do get it, etc.
