March Madness and Covid-19

Yeah, and nobody that championed this study will come back and say they were wrong and it was a bad study. The national “media” used it to attack the president but they won’t admit they were wrong and apologize to the president. Much like posters here that pointed to the study to attack the president. They also won’t admit they were wrong and the study was bad.

For some people character comes to the forefront while for others it hides. You are asking too much from some for it is a "bridge too far." In other words it's called "being full of hot air." I wonder if hot air causes the world to go round or if it stifles it. You will hear people proclaim "how they know better," but when it gets real they become dubious. Anyone can hide behind a tree. There is no dignity in hiding. You can tell a lot about people not by what they are, but by what they are not.

By the way, Sunday there were 135,000 new cases of Covid-19 reported worldwide, which was the highest total reported since the pandemic began. The number of cases has hit 7 million.

Cases were already increasing before the protests, but the protests will not help matters.

for sure. Although Oklahoma seemed to be in a decline for almost a month before the protests from what i can see.

I don't really focus on the # of new cases anymore since it can be misleading. I'm not sure if there is a good way to really measure if it is because more people are being infected or more tests are being done. I suppose # of positives per test is as good as any. Also the rt value that somebody posted about earlier. Looks like Oklahoma's is slightly increasing and there are a lot more states in red now

I've been following RT.Live for several weeks now, ever since WTSooner linked it originally. In that time, Oklahoma has settled between 0.89 and 0.99. It appears we're on a bit of an uptick, as are a good number of states.

I'm betting the numbers get pretty dicey from the protests. But what can you do about that?

Agree with you and 04.

Number of new cases isn't the number to focus on. I still look at the deaths each week, and what age bucket those are in.

Anybody seen an updated breakdown of the percentage of confirmed cases that are asymptomatic?

Keep in mind too the uptick in cases are because people are getting out of the last month. If the uptick isn't major, I think that is a good sign. Overall, I'm still pretty pleased with what is currently happening in Oklahoma regarding the virus.

I'm in North Carolina, and the numbers have just skyrocketed in recent weeks, especially as things have opened back up. The protests have little to do with the escalation. The problem isn't the re-opening of the state as this is much-needed throughout the country to avoid even further bankruptcies (personal and small business) and financial devastation in general. The issue we're having in NC is that people just aren't using basic common sense to limit their exposure to the virus. I still order out at restaurants because they are PACKED right now. When I need to shop at a particular store, I go before it gets crowded. I also still have someone cut my hair privately. I'm just not understanding the mentality of some people who are acting like this is all behind us.

I hear you, they all think it’s over but it’s far from over. People have no sense. It’s maddening.

:ez-laugh: ok

Crowded restaurants and stores do but crowded gathering shoulder to shoulder and yelling doesn't?

I think if you counted the amount of people at Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, grocery stores, shopping malls, etc from 8am to 11pm every single day of the week vs the number of people protesting, I would guess they would outnumber protesters 100 to 1.

Would you make the conscious decision to trade eating for protesting as it relates to your family. No, for you are not an imbecile.

Have you frequented the stores you mentioned, and if so, are people shoulder to shoulder or keeping space?

Life has consequence and to denote otherwise is the feebleness of humanity. If rear end problems manifest themselves from going to the bathroom then people should cross that off their to doo list, and that explains some things.

maybe. But when I've been to the hardware store, most people are social distancing. When I see protests, people aren't social distancing.

Yes, but the effect from the protests won't be until 3-4 weeks after the protests. It hasn't been long enough from the time of the protests to see a spike in covid-19 due to them. The spikes we are seeing now are from the "re-opening."

By the way, I don't think the protests will have as much as an effect as the reopenings because they were much smaller scale, but there will be an effect. New Orleans had a spike after Mardi Gras.

He's lumping them together as one just because he wants to. What a talent. Again, it is all about convenience which comprises 51% of his blood.
