Was Manziel ever asked to switch?

I think it needs to be noted that Lamar Jackson, even with his immense physical talent, still worked his ass off regarding his fundamentals, footwork, and especially in the film room. He should be the model for athletic QBs who want to get better and are willing to put in the work.

And the funny thing is, imo, Manziel could have been a good QB in the NFL....I really believe that. Even though he isn't the athlete that Lamar or Kyler are (nor does he have their arms), he still possessed some of those "it" qualities that aren't quantifiable. Unfortunately, he was beyond a dumbass in between the ears and couldn't straighten his life out. He wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last.

Remember what we were told about Hydroxychloroquine two to three months ago? Well, the medical journals that ran those articles retracted the stories because they were based on faulty data from a highly suspect database.

Another case of “fake news“? Read the article and decide for yourself.

The days of the Walter Cronkites are a thing of the past. The internet has created and shifted the media in a different direction. Anyone can now create a media entity. When we were younger it was easy to have the best of the best in talent in the news media, but it has been diluted and on top of that the news media giants have thrown in the towel so as not to be left behind and are following the seedy, unscrupulous ways of the new news sources. It is beyond sad because it is likely here to stay.

Excellent points! Sad, isn’t it?

You might be interested to know that Surgisphere, a small company whose employees appear to include a sci-fi writer and an adult content model, is the company “Lancet“ and the “New England Journal of Medicine” relied on for their database studies. Both magazines are well-known, reputable publications in the medical field.

Props to both magazines for admitting their mistake!

Did you remember Heisman Trophy winner Erich Crouch? Or Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow?

Eric Crouch has more rushing attempts than passing attempts every year except his freshmen year. Tebow is a good example. My point about position switches isn’t a great one, the main point was the lower % of that position based on others and ignorant comments made that black qbs aren’t as smart as white qbs.

Lamar Jackson had more rushing attempts than completed passes. While possibly present in fanbases, I don't think it's that prevalent with scouts. Vince Young was unbelievably dumb, yet he was still selected in the top 10. The only reason Manziel isn't playing WR like Terrelle Pryor is because he's not 6'4 and runs a 4.38.

Add Blake Bell to the list of position changes. I really can't think of many white QBs that could have succeeded at different positions. Maybe a few TEs here and there.

Man, Blake Bell would have been a pretty good option quarterback at Air Force, Navy, Army, or Georgia Tech... More of a power runner, but he would be tough to deal with especially since he was a competent passer. The last few Georgia Tech option QB's weren't good throwing the ball at all, but were electric running the option.

I'm showing my age, but most of you have at least heard of a guy named Jack Mildren. He was actually a 2nd round draft pick in the NFL as a CB, but didn't have a successful pro career (played only 3 seasons). One white QB who did was the opposing QB who ended our long winning streak during the '70s, Nolan Cromwell. Going all the way back to the 1950s, OU's most successful QB EVER (in terms of W-L record), Jimmy Harris, played for awhile in the NFL as a DB. I'm not saying race has never been a factor, but for the most part, if the NFL scouts don't think one can play QB in the NFL, then he's not getting drafted as a QB.

I believe competition is rather fierce in the NFL and if having a player on their team can give them that edge then they will do what it takes to get that edge. Some teams will cheat to get that edge, some teams will sign players with questionable character to get that edge. There's a receiver on the super bowl Chiefs' team that punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and he found a home in the NFL and is compensated quite well, and by jove he is black. There are 32 teams in the NFL and I'll leave it at that.

It's funny, I really only started the thread to talk about the possibility that the NCAA tournament might be cancelled. Most people thought I was nuts (they still might haha).

So things are going to get pretty dang interesting in Minneapolis. It will be fascinating to use as a case study if they really defund the police

Interesting article in the Tulsa World this morning suggesting that asymptomatic spread of COVID may be very, very rare.

I guess that makes sense. IF you aren't hacking all the time, you probably are not emitting near as much of the virus

Yeah, and nobody that championed this study will come back and say they were wrong and it was a bad study. The national “media” used it to attack the president but they won’t admit they were wrong and apologize to the president. Much like posters here that pointed to the study to attack the president. They also won’t admit they were wrong and the study was bad.
