Wow, the positivity rate has been climbing in Texas for 2 straight weeks, it hit 23% yesterday. That's a horrific number, it means they aren't testing nearly enough and the pandemic is accelerating there. Hospitalizations are up 60% in the last week.

As expected, mandatory wearing of masks in public places is official in North Carolina as of this past Friday. If we can get our numbers down, Phase 3 (ex: opening bars and gyms) can finally go in effect on July 17th. Can our residents grow a brain in the next three weeks? That will determine whether Phase 3 will become a reality.

But this would have been different if trump had told everyone of his followers that wearing masks and following the expert's advise would save his rule.

It would have worked.....he told everyone to stay home for a few months.....mostly they did, until he wanted to reopen the economy. Then he professed that he had the power to do as he wanted with reopening; and when he found that he couldn't, he started his followers to protesting. And with pressure on the governors, they began reopening....much too soon. It sets our recovery back another six months?? Or do we recover in a few years?

Really unfortunate that so many people have allowed this to happen to our country....

And if trump had followed other countries' successful strategies, we would now be in a recovery with business slowly recovering.

The way it is, as long as there are people afraid to leave their house, the economy will possibly never come back to where it was before this started.

Did you watch any footage of protests by those supporting BLM and such while not wearing masks? Are you to believe that a disproportionate were conservatives?

What % of the dead were caused by conservatives not wearing masks? Wearing masks slows the progression for it does not resolve in a cure.

Our government has made mistakes before.....wmds in Iraq was the last big one that I can think of.

But trump had weeks and months to prepare a response to the epidemic. And he had all of the intelligence agencies working for him in order to prepare a rational response.

What did he do????? He had to know that whatever he did, it was going to slow down or shut down the economy. And that's all he had to run on...so he hoped it wouldn't be too bad if he just ignored it. Remember his response when he was told that the virus was coming....."Can't we just let it take its course?". That was his idea, and thankfully Fauci assured him that hundreds of thousands of us would die. So he started out in the hole because he refused to act. And his inaction caused many deaths. China and some of the surrounding countries had much better outcomes than we have.

I'm sure that when China shut down the Wuhan Province, that some of his "experts" were telling him something is bad wrong in China, and that he should prepare for the worst.

His response has been one of the biggest clusters I can remember. And I can remember back to the Kennedy assassination.

So blame whoever you want....I feel confident in my assertion that trump has the onus on him to convince me otherwise.

What countries are you speaking of, and what did they do so differently? And please don't mention countries with populations comparable to individual states. I haven't watched what the rest of the world is doing, but I was under the impression it was disrupting the whole globe.

This is the logic that confuses me. You're saying that the economy won't recover because people won't leave their houses, and that Trump encouraging people to leave their houses caused this setback?

If you believe there are countries doing a better job then which countries are these? Of these countries you can list how many "international airports" and "ports of call" do they have? On an individual basis do they have the same number of "international airports" and "ports of call" as we do. If a country has less ways to enter the country do you think that makes it easier for the government/country to contain the spread of a virus similar to Covid-19 or does reality not make a difference?

Take your pick.....look at Taiwan, China, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea......I'm sure they would have given anyone their secrets for a rational response. Our death per million is terrible, and the fact that our people per square mile is so much less than most of these other nations should have helped us.

What I'm saying is that the economy was going to suffer either way; but to assure people that it's reasonably safe to go out in public, you have to assure them that the epidemic is on the wane and that everyone is taking reasonable precautions to keep it from flaring up again. The governors (with trump's approval) reopened the floodgates too soon. The epidemic was far from over.

England, France, Spain and Italy have a substantially higher death rate than we do. And SIZE MATTERS! And logically oriented people are supposed to think they are doing better and have it made as compared to us in the states. Horse hockey!

Again, do these countries have the same number of international airports and ports of call as we do? If a house has only one door do you think it is easier to defend against a home invasion versus a home with multiple doors?

Every response can be done differently. Every one. There is no such thing as "we could not have done better." None. It has always been the same. Always.

Between California and New Hampshire which state has more opioid deaths? Answer: California. Does that mean New Hampshire is doing a better job combating opioid deaths? Do you realize that New Hampshire has a more than 5 times higher death rate/100,000 people? Can you explain how California is worse off? If you had a child would you prefer to have your child grow up in an area which has a 33/100,000 death rate or a 5.8/100,000 death rate. The answer should be quite clear.
