March Madness and Covid-19

To be fair, I get the feeling the you were looking for very specific types of testing. You wanted quick testing. You wanted quick results. I think you preferred a drive-up location. Were you also looking for free?

I guarantee there were other places in town you could have gotten tested. Just about any Ergent Care, for example. The one I'm familiar with, near Tulsa Hills, I've been told they haven't had a single day where they've ran out of tests. You specifically went to some specialty type places that for whatever reason had a limited supply.

Correct, because I can't return to work without test results and need to inform my mother in law if she is potentially exposed, I was seeking a rapid test. I don't have 3 weeks to wait.

I will tell you this:

  • OU Schusterman was booked for appointments
  • OSU Hospital had one spot available, which I took (and later cancelled)
  • Urgent Care in Bixby, no tests
  • Urgent Care in Sapulpa, ran out of rapid tests and said mail outs are 2-3 week delay on results
  • Urgent Care in Claremore, ran out of rapid tests and said mail outs are 2-3 week delay on results
  • I checked 10 CVS locations, all were booked up on appointments that day. But they had the 2-3 week delay on results as well

So I did find an urgent care associated with St. Johns that will test, but they won't just test anyone which is why I was able to get in. You have to be exhibiting symptons, have had direct exposure, etc. I told them I had direct exposure and fudged the truth on some symptoms so I wouldn't be turned away. They have a 2-3 day turn-around. It was the best I could do.

But, to your point, I could have gotten a normal test with a 2-3 week turnaround easier. But that test does me no good whatsoever. I am not sure why anyone would want that test.

Do you have a reason to think he did?

Other than the fact that it was an accepted practice of the time and Columbus refused to convert them to Christianity so he could keep them as slaves? Of course I have no proof, and it's possible he didn't, but not likely.

Well that is nice just being able to accuse people of rape that can't defend themselves.

I have no doubt that some of his crew raped. And it may sound really bad to say, because it is, but it is a standard practice in human history. It's terrible no doubt. But let's also not pretend the natives were some peaceful hippies. They had slaves of their own, they raped as well, they killed children and made hundreds of thousands of human sacrifices. History HAS to be looked back on in the time the events happened.

And I don't understand the Christianity comment. One of his main goal was the conversion of natives and spreading the Gospel

Okay, you admitted that Columbus allowed his crew to rape people. Even if he didn't do the raping himself that makes him just as bad, agreed?

Are you seriously both-sidesing Columbus enslaving and massacring the natives of Hispaniola? Wow.

As far as the "Christian comment." It's a fact, he refused to convert the natives of Hispaniola to Christianity because then he wouldn't be able to enslave them.

No i did not

No

i don't know what both-sidesing is so I can't answer that. If it means that the context of history must be taken into account...then yes

Can you give me a link with sources to this?

"We have a lot of cases, 99% of which are totally harmless"
-Donald Trump

Is that true?

No i did not

No

Both-sidesing means you were saying, "The natives weren't good people either, see both sides are bad!"

I may be wrong about him not converting them to Christianity, maybe he converted them at swordpoint and enslaved them anyway.

Read this, especially the account by Bartolome de las Casas

Ok, what is going on with Ron DeSantis in Florida? Is he a moron or just lying through his teeth? He literally said they still have a flat curve, and its just going to stay flat longer.

He was actually gesturing a flat line with his hand.

I vote for both. He should really be removed from office for bungling this so badly.

Dallas Public Schools Superintendent saying he has doubts about football happening this year.

Bungling what? You really believe he should lock down his whole state indefinitely? Are you a freaking moron? Yes you are.

He didn’t bungle anything.

It’s funny you never call out cuomo, who was directly responsible for thousands of deaths, yet you’re calling for a republican to be removed for spiking cases and far fewer deaths.

Which states do you guys think have done the best job from start to finish?

I look at states like California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, NY, Mass, and NJ.....all of which shutdown a good portion of their states relatively early compared to other states. And all of those states still got absolutely hammered:
NY - 32,368 deaths
NJ - 15,522 deaths
Mass - 8,268 deaths
Penn - 6,932 deaths
Cal - 6,862 deaths
Mich - 6,271 deaths

Currently, Texas (which has a population greater than any of those states except Cal) has just over 3000 deaths....and I do expect that death toll to climb given what is going on in Harris and Dallas county. I don't know that Texas did a "better job" necessarily, but there are a few on here who are apoplectic about Texas and Florida for some reason.

To put it in perspective, a few on here forget that NY was losing over 900 people a day for a stretch....and NJ was losing over 300 people a day for about a week. As a comparison, Texas just experienced their first day of having over 100 deaths (unfortunately). I don't know how bad it is going to get before it gets better, but I am encouraged that the majority of positive test results are coming back to a younger demographic. And long term care facilities have been locked down like Fort Knox. I think both of those will contribute to a lower death rate and death/day eventually as well as the hospitals being more prepared logistically at this point.

The other piece of positive news I see when I've had to be out here is that every business that I've been to (supermarket, commercial, hardware, etc.) is requiring masks. I have seen virtually no one without a mask.

He bungled the response to the pandemic and saying "But but but CUOMO!" doesn't change that fact. He also keeps lying about it, instead of leveling with the public.

New York was hit hard in the early days of this. Did Cuomo make mistakes? Of course he did, but he didn't have the luxury of months to prepare for this like morons DeSantis, Abbott, Ducey, et al.

By the way, I just chuckle when you call me a moron as you pound away on the keyboard spouting nonsensical conspiracy theories and attempting to deflect blame from your cult leader.

Certain people are so upset with Florida, Texas and California yet states such as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts have many more deaths and much less population to boot. The states in the northeast have close to 5x as many deaths and 58% of the population as the 3 other states.

I chuckle at you all the time for your chicken little routine and your need to feel affirmed in this thread. I don’t pound on a keyboard. This isn’t 1998.
