To be fair, I get the feeling the you were looking for very specific types of testing. You wanted quick testing. You wanted quick results. I think you preferred a drive-up location. Were you also looking for free?
I guarantee there were other places in town you could have gotten tested. Just about any Ergent Care, for example. The one I'm familiar with, near Tulsa Hills, I've been told they haven't had a single day where they've ran out of tests. You specifically went to some specialty type places that for whatever reason had a limited supply.
Correct, because I can't return to work without test results and need to inform my mother in law if she is potentially exposed, I was seeking a rapid test. I don't have 3 weeks to wait.
I will tell you this:
- OU Schusterman was booked for appointments
- OSU Hospital had one spot available, which I took (and later cancelled)
- Urgent Care in Bixby, no tests
- Urgent Care in Sapulpa, ran out of rapid tests and said mail outs are 2-3 week delay on results
- Urgent Care in Claremore, ran out of rapid tests and said mail outs are 2-3 week delay on results
- I checked 10 CVS locations, all were booked up on appointments that day. But they had the 2-3 week delay on results as well
So I did find an urgent care associated with St. Johns that will test, but they won't just test anyone which is why I was able to get in. You have to be exhibiting symptons, have had direct exposure, etc. I told them I had direct exposure and fudged the truth on some symptoms so I wouldn't be turned away. They have a 2-3 day turn-around. It was the best I could do.
But, to your point, I could have gotten a normal test with a 2-3 week turnaround easier. But that test does me no good whatsoever. I am not sure why anyone would want that test.
