March Madness and Covid-19

I also don't believe the numbers being reported out of some of these places. Nothing about the past leads me to believe we can take a word they say as the truth.

Sure, anything to make excuses for your cult leader.

For the fear peddlers, below was a brief essay by the great C.S. Lewis entitled "On Living in an Atomic Age". As you read through it, replace the words atomic or bomb with COVID.

“In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. “How are we to live in an atomic age?” I am tempted to reply: “Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.”

In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty.

This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

Must really suck waking up every day with so much hate for a man you've never even met or interacted with. Just constant hate, facts be damned. Dems, always they thinking they are the smartest in the room. lol

I don’t hate him, I mostly feel pity for the man, psychologically damaged and completely unfit to hold the office he’s in.

That’s how we all feel about you. You’re unhinged, psychologically damaged and unfit.

They make excuses for rioting, looting, stabbing and shooting. What does that tell you. They only want to share white hate crimes and ignore these very same crimes made by non whites. What does this tell you. They feel it's okay to ruin peoples' lives such as in "Crossfire Hurricane." What does this tell you. They try to make people believe only non democrats are misogynistic or racist when countless democrats were exposed for such behavior. What does this tell you. Their zeal for power makes them the most two faced, forked tongue individuals to walk the streets.

This is Trump’s fault.

Nothing trump could have done would have stopped it.
It is America’s fault.

I do question why you stick to just the European Union though

“It’s not the captain’s fault, it’s the ship’s fault, yeah that’s the ticket!”

I stick to the EU because it’s about as close a comparison to the United States as it gets. GDP is about the same. The EU population is about 25% more but the land mass is similar.

The eu is comprised of many countries with vastly different results on covid results.

You pick them because it helps you make a point.

And again, nothing trump could have done would have made a difference in how this affected the US

Taking it seriously, giving proper information, having a unified response would have helped.

This is almost as worthless as the links that steve and coolm post.

I don’t deny this.

75% of this thread is nonsense. 75% of this thread is Steve and coolm posting. Steve and coolm post nonsense.

It's time to open your mind a bit, Bounce. I agree that Americans should not need anyone to tell them to: 1) wear a mask, 2) social distance, and 3) exercise a little common sense. That said, you know as well as I do that the primary credit or blame for something that either goes well or doesn't - starts at the top. Had America handled this better than most other countries, you know as well as I do that President Trump would be bragging about it. As such, he has to take his fair share of the blame that things have gone horribly wrong. His leadership throughout has been poor.

The good news is that most of the people at or near the political center don't have much use for his November challenger, either. That means we're deciding between the 'lesser of two evils'. It actually makes the right more credible to the center by simply admitting the obvious - our President has done a poor job throughout this process. It's no crime to admit that while still believing he's the best candidate to lead our country for the next four years.
