It's already here, and it's going to do what it's going to do whether we lose our **** or carry on responsibly.

I had nothing to do with this thing starting and I'll have nothing to do with its conclusion. All I can control is the level head on my shoulders.

As usual....very well said. Take precautions and go about your life. And above else, let's not lose our freaking minds over this.

NCAA announced today no plans to alter schedule or play games minus fans. Could change of course, but that was their statement today.

We shall see if that is just spin in the moment. Of course, they have already banned spectators at certain D3 tournament locations, so they are kind of talking out of both sides of their mouth.

My family and I have a caribbean cruise booked for the week of spring break. Think it would be wise to postpone or is that just being reactionary? We have the option of moving our booking to another date.

Carnival is offering $200 on board credit for those that keep their booking.

I would check the ports of call and see what's going on in those countries. If those are fine then I would have no problem going.

Like Steve said, it may be dependent on the ports, but also where the cruise ship and crew is coming from is also a HUGE factor. The cruise ship sitting outside SF that has 21 people infected is because the crew. The ship came from another place and 19 of the crew got infected with COVID-19. It was because of the previous sail, not the current cruise. Now all 3500 are quarantined for 14 days, most likely on that ship.

Credits are awesome but be prepared for the consequences if you board. Good news is you might get an extra 14 days for free. Lol.

If the cruise was in the Pacific I would say cancel, 100%. But the Caribbean should be fine, just use your precautions.

Why would the ports matter? People bringing the virus back to the ship from the mainland?

The ports are Mexico/Cozumel, Honduras/Roatan Island, and Belize. I believe the ship has been in the Caribbean since the start of the outbreak, so I'd assume the crew has also. And FWIW, I'd be totally okay never leaving the ship on the port days if that would reduce risk.

The biggest thing I'm worried about is getting quarantined for two weeks and missing work/school.

We have a 2 year old but from what I understand kids are less susceptible...

My brother was told if he went to Japan he would be placed in quarantine for 7 days upon returning home.

The ports matter because they may have an outbreak at one of the ports of call and disrupt your trip or those countries might decide to quarantine the ship, etc. Your 2 year-old can still catch the virus and get sick but the mortality rate for young children is almost zero. The problem being that even though your kid won't die he/she will still be able to infect everyone they come in contact with.

Italy has announced that it is "shutting down" 5 provinces in the North due to Covid-19, including the province that contains Milan. This means that nobody can leave their home unless it's an emergency. That is unbelievable and tells you how the pandemic is getting out of control there. Can you even imagine the impact on their economy?

Cruises are a "smorgasbord of germs" to begin with let alone under the current scenario.

The State Department has issued a travel warning for potential cruise passengers so there's the answer.

should be some great deals on cruises later on this year

I travel to that region (about 35 minutes outside of Milano) for work and have a number of friends there now who own hotels, restaurants, breweries, etc, and they are freaking out about their businesses and making a living.

Yep. And I didn't even mention all the healthcare providers I work with there, but they also do radiation treatments so they are in a specialized clinic disconnected from the main hospital. But, the main hospital is across the street.
