Huh?
Just making a joke which referenced upskirts.
Huh?
The mildness of the symptoms for a lot of people really isn’t great news. That means they’re walking around spreading it. My son is 21 years-old and has had asthma his whole life. I’m worried sick that he’s going to catch it.
What should be of upmost importance in all of this is those considered high risk should have a wall around them until it is more safe for them to intermingle. The rest of us can deal with it.

But the “rest of us” give it to those that are high risk. It’s inevitable.

And that's why they need to be removed from this possibility as much as possible. As much as possible. When I went to the market today there were a number of elderly and there should be backstops to prevent this. If most of the population is not really at risk then the effort should be solely to protect the high riskers. Soley. But the selfishness that are people fumbles the ball.
That's been my thought all along. The best thing to do here is for those at risk to take extreme precaution, not the rest of us. This affects such a low percentage of people, it's much easier to control THEIR actions than the actions of 90%+ of the population.
But you’re assuming that we aren’t really at risk when we know that this virus is at minimum 8 times more lethal than seasonal flu for even healthy people. And it’s impossible to “build a wall” around all people with underlying issues. It’s just not possible.
We don't know that. It may be 10x for the elderly, but we don't have anywhere near enough GOOD data to make that claim. You can't claim that when we KNOW there are thousands out there still un-diagnosed. We're just guessing. My guess is that for the non-elderly, it's probably no more than 2-3x as lethal as the flu.
Too many people trying to act like we know this or that, when we don't.

Partially correct on the stats. 10X more deadly is a correct %, but wrong age band. Based on data globally where this has been going on since December and they have been more aggressive in testing, for people 19-49 it is 10x more deadly. For the elderly, it is 20-25X more deadly. The only age category it is not as deadly or in that range you mentioned are those under 19.
We have posted those stats throughout this thread. You can see these stats by going to the CDC and Worldometers page on COVID-19. Dr. Fauci even testified to these numbers in front of Congress on Thursday.
And this why if the greatest hit occurs to the 1% group it leads to less deaths overall as opposed to the 1% getting theirs and the elderly, high risk group gets wiped out in the process. Sacrifices need to be made!
This cannot be shouted loud enough. Although I lost my mom a few years ago, I think about her during this time and how she would handle this. We need to be careful for those around us. If you are showing symptoms take care of yourself and stay away from people. We also need to do what we can to help those that may be at risk. If you know someone who is elderly and are in a healthy state, volunteer to do there shopping. If you see an elderly person at the grocery store, do the same. Pick up their prescriptions, take out their trash, whatever it takes. Don't make the elderly or those in the high-risk categories expose themselves unnecessarily just to do the ADLs of life.
I know this hits home with you from your posts and thanks for spreading the message.
That was nice. If we ever play golf I will let you cheat!
An OUhoops.com golf tournament would be interesting.
One event in Tulsa, one event in the OKC area.
I have degrees in microbiology and medical technology, and a master’s degree in public health from OU. I am the head of the hematology department at the VA hospital where I work. How about you?
so are you the one I complain to when they stick me like 12x to start an IV? they finally called down (up) one of the lab ladies who got it first shot ... but those weekend temp nurses
caused my arms and hands to be covered in bruises. grrrrrr!
oh, and I had an A1C of 17 prior to abdominal surgery. that irish surgeon was way pi$$ed. I wondered if that wasn't the reason. they ended up putting in a pick (?) line next time up.
