this is simply not true
Tell us why it isn’t true, oh great oracle...
this is simply not true
the huge majority of those tested globally are those that are sick or very sick
the long term damage this reaction is going to cause the us economy is going to be so bad ...
as you have said this is not a 14 day thing ...
you have also said the full spread is now not stoppable .. is that correct?
In America yes, because our testing regime has been woefully inadequate, but we have a mountain of data from other countries that have tested hundreds of thousands, read the link I posted yesterday.
Yes, but this is all necessary because we MUST flatten the curve so the healthcare system isn’t overwhelmed, leading to far more deaths. What we are doing will hopefully have the affect of keeping us from looking like Italy.
where?? south korea they have tested the most and even there it is almost all those sick or thought to be at risk and even there it is less than 4k tests per millon people
the other side of that coin is keeping this going for 4 months will do unthinkable damage to the economy
Overwhelming the healthcare system and killing a lot more people will be far more damaging to the economy.

That’s debatable. If millions of people have no income to pay their bills or even put food on the table, it will result in a financial devastation like we have have never seen before. I don’t pretend I know what the answer is, but everyone staying home for months on end is not a viable solution.
not that it is provable either way but having this over in 30 days would be much much better for the long term economy regardless of the deaths ..

As I've said before the emphasis should be on the high risk group and let the chips fall where they may for the rest. Reduce the damage done to the high risk group and you remove a majority of the damage done. The overwhelming reality is those who are lowest risk are treating the situation as if they are the highest risk. This only compounds the situation. At some point reality needs to be a priority. True responsibility is out of the reach of most.

In my opinion, there are no half measures.
That's how I feel. I'm okay with something resembling a partial-lockdown for the next 2-3 weeks. After that, we probably need to start getting back to business as usual, with an emphasis on protecting those at risk the most. And a large piece of that is some of those folks protecting themselves (the ones that are able). We should be putting a lot of effort and money into trying to find a vaccine or something over the next few weeks as well. And just a better understanding of the virus, how it works, and how we should move going forward.
If the entire US is shut down for 2-3 months (or longer), like a few have mentioned, we're going to have bigger problems than the actual virus.
The reality is everyone is not high risk and everyone believing otherwise just makes the situation worse. In turn it will lead to more deaths than less of it and that is unacceptable. To win a war without fatalities is unrealistic.
