March Madness and Covid-19

BTW, something I picked up from the PC today.

How does WVa not have ANY COVID-19 cases?? Maybe its something in the Blue Ridge Mountains or Shenandoah River. Maybe it truly is almost Heaven.

According to Trump's Twitter feed, states with Democrat governors are infested with Covid-19, while states with Republican governors have none. Even calling them (the governors) "failures" in one tweet, while praising how well he is working with the states in another.

This is my favorite logical fallacy.... Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Example: The sun came up today, and I got the flu. Therefore, the sun rising gave me the flu.

Applied here.... New York has a democrat as governor, and they have Covid-19. Therefore, New York has Covid-19 because their governor is a democrat.

Dropping rates to zero sent a panic to the market that means this is more serious than the market anticipated. The market also was looking for stimulus policies, not just fiscal policy.

For one that has been critical of the Administration's response and it was perceived not everyone was on board in taking it seriously, I will say I have been impressed by the reactions since Friday, and particularly, in the last 24 hours or so. The PCs yesterday and today have been excellent in tone and policy.

The stimulus package will also be a big boost to pay consumers directly.

Agreed, although THEY'RE still not practicing social distancing at the pressers lol

Yep, put simply: Correlation =/= Causation

Yes, but this is all necessary because we MUST flatten the curve so the healthcare system isn’t overwhelmed, leading to far more deaths. What we are doing will hopefully have the affect of keeping us from looking like Italy.
steve is right if you look at the stress on the healthcare system, it is the big thing. It creates real economic impact, will lead to more cancelations and curfews, and ultimately lead to more deaths.

If this does what is projected based on other countries, based on spread rate, and based on % of hospitalizations being 15-20% (NY is experiencing 20%), you could be looking at up to 2.5 Million hospitalizations and maybe 2 million deaths based on the latest models. And before you say those numbers aren't realistic, these are numbers based on some of their models at the Administrations PC today. Those numbers are NOT based on the current global fatality % of 3.9%

2.5 million hospitalizations would be catastrophic as we only have 900K beds for everyone for every sickness right now.

That's my fear as well. If you can spread those cases out over a longer period of time you can reduce the strain on the healthcare system.

Or maybe because all of those states that have high COVID-19 cases are all coastal states with large populations and/or high populous metro areas?? Hmmm, maybe that is it, I don't know.

Country roads....take me home....to the place....I belong. West Virginia....mountain mama....take me home.....country roads.

Now have over 5,000 cases nationally with no wide-scale testing. America is flying blind because the testing has been so inadequate. No idea who has it, where it is, where it isn't, etc.

Unfortunately, Rome was not built in a day. Some things take time to be most effective because the back drop is people, who are imperfect souls, are behind this every step of the way. Even "GOOGLE" announced a delay!

The United States just surpassed 100 deaths. Reminder: less than 3 weeks ago we had 15 cases total in the country.

One of the positive patients in Tulsa is an EMT... let that sink in.
