March Madness and Covid-19

This blew my mind and adds some perspective, it was less than a week ago that the Thunder game was cancelled because they found out that Rudy Gobert was positive. Less than a week!!!

At the press conference yesterday, the officials said we are looking at July or August before these measures are relaxed.

They are working on the vaccine. It will be ready next year some time. Coming up with a vaccine for a newly identified virus isn't something that can be done in a few weeks.

Johns Hopkins is stating that using antibodies from survivors is the best alternative at this point. It can be done in short manner.

Do you know what "Ro of 3" means? Okay, I have to get some work done today, have a great day, be back later.

Yes I do but that doesn't change the behavior of people. My grandmother normally visits a retirement home 3 times a week to play cards with her girlfriends. The retirement home is now limiting visits to immediate family members and medical personnel only. This is how it should have been done from the beginning and common sense should have been the leader in this and not relying on anything else including the bureaucracy. At some point in time people need to look within themselves for answers instead of deluding themselves. You talk about Italy quite a bit and it goes to show how ignoring the high risk group created their calamity. I also think you are relying on science too much and not enough on practicality.

Behavior is the solution.

That's the same mortality rate that was calculated in the link I sent yesterday...

FYI, the mortality rate for seasonal flu is about 0.1%

That's not exactly what was said about July or August. It was Trump's answer to when would we be done with these measures, and he replied by July or August it would washout. The press started pushing him about having curfews in place that long and Dr. Fauci said if we do the things now we need to do, we could see we are on the flattening of the curve and on the backside of the curve.

Today at the PC, they once again pushed on how long restrictions would be in place, Dr. Fauci was hesitant on giving dates or timelines, but said we should know this has worked and be in a better place in 45 days.

I think they feel the 8 week timeline is how long restrictions will be.

Thanks for the clarification!

That's why many economists and politicians from both sides of the aisle are asking for financial assistance/stimulus from the government. Dropping the prime rate to zero was the first step, although it doesn't really help that much in the short term.

Dropping rates to zero sent a panic to the market that means this is more serious than the market anticipated. The market also was looking for stimulus policies, not just fiscal policy.

For one that has been critical of the Administration's response and it was perceived not everyone was on board in taking it seriously, I will say I have been impressed by the reactions since Friday, and particularly, in the last 24 hours or so. The PCs yesterday and today have been excellent in tone and policy.

The stimulus package will also be a big boost to pay consumers directly.

I am going to play Red Dead Redemption 2, and Rock Smith with a new guitar I got. I will probably work out quite a bit too.

How about you guys?

BTW, something I picked up from the PC today.

How does WVa not have ANY COVID-19 cases?? Maybe its something in the Blue Ridge Mountains or Shenandoah River. Maybe it truly is almost Heaven.
