March Madness and Covid-19

I know a lot of our discussion has focused on the Administration response and actions or the actual medical impact of this virus, but here is another angle we haven't talked about a lot, but as potentially devastating.

20% unemployment, which would be an increase of over 6x?? Mnuchin says it could happen without action.

I have no doubt this will be the case. Economic impact, and what that in turn results in, is going to be crazy. Bailouts (people and companies). The effect on small businesses. Stock market. Retirement. The trickle down effect of people losing jobs, not paying rent, and the strain that will cause on individuals that count on that rental income. Evict or not? Credit hits. How many people will get depressed and end their lives?

The list goes on and on.

“Covid-19” literally stands for “Coronavirus Disease 2019” so yeah, not its scientific name, but it will do until a common name is coined.
It appears the proper terminology is now the "Chinese Virus" according to recent Tweets and pressers.

Lol.

This is why Mnuchin is working so hard with Pelosi (imagine that two months ago!) and McConnell to get these unprecedented large stimulus deals pushed through Congress. Getting them through quickly will provide immediate relief to SBOs, employees, and major industries most impacted. They have also proposed relief through the IRS, HUD, and the banking industry to stay evictions, payments, late fees, etc.

It will also be a positive to the financial markets and provide some relief there as well.

why is ebola called ebola??

why are the subs called zaire ebola, sudan ebola ect

I guess we can start calling the influenza that wiped out millions in 1918 "The American Virus"
