"Chinese" is not geography.

I mean, let's be honest, it's just a deafening dog-whistle. We are bright people, we know what is going on.

As comical/sad as I found this terminology being applied to the virus, I did not take it as racist or a dog-whistle.

What I took it as was a term to say this virus isn't our fault and to shift the blame elsewhere. That was even said in so many words in today's presser.

Whatever the terminology, I am just glad we are seeing a better-coordinated effort by our state and federal governments than even a week ago.

I actually don't think labeling it "Wuhan Coronavirus" is racist, because "Wuhan" is not a race. Calling it "Chinese virus" or "Kung Flu" is most definitely racist and disgusting though.

That being said, do I think it's smart to call it "Wuhan Coronoavirus?" No, because there are many idiots in this country who are leveling racism at Asians because of this situation. Lots of morons think this was some evil plot by the Chinese government. Brilliant. My girlfriend is Asian (Filipino), at Wal-Mart some moron ran up to her and yelled "Coronavirus!" in her face. He quickly walked away but it scared her.

I prefer to stick to scientific labels or agreed upon naming conventions by the WHO/CDC.

Either our military was blamed for the origin of the virus or it was not. Placing the correct origin, in and of itself, is harmless unless you make it otherwise. People, for one reason or another, seem to make it otherwise for they are not happy unless they do.

And we got 1.5 inches of rain last night and another inch expected tonight. Course will be green just like my weeds.

The people who say its not a big deal to call it the "China Virus" are the same people who seem opposed to calling it what the WHO/CDC are calling it.

The point is you WANT to call it the China Virus for political reasons. Not because you think that name makes the most sense, or is the most scientific, or is the most helpful, etc.

Intent matters. It's not like saying the word China is racist or offensive, but the intent of labeling it that way is clear. It's not the word itself, it is the intent.

That was abhorrent behavior.

Why people do the things they do is not always apparent. You do not have an "intent analyzer" regardless of your desire, thus people "wing things" to fit their narrative. Think GOOGLE.

I am one to partially believe the conspiracy theory that this was or is a form of a biological weapon that "got out", more than I believe the virus "jumped" from some animal to a human and was able to mutate when it hadn't for years like no other animal virus ever had. The blame at this point matters none, we just have to solve it.

And my golf game needs a lot more than a little rain to make it enjoyable. Lol.

Soft greens are your friend. And what specific issue does your game suffer from?

You think I am wrong on the intent?

People have been predicting that the virus would jump from animals to humans for years. There was a scholarly paper published in 2018 (I think it was 2018, might have been sooner) that said Wuhan Province is a tinderbox because of the presence of native SARS-like viruses and the propensity of the population there to eat exotic animals.

I suffer from short game... I can drive the ball pretty well, can reliably shape the ball from right to left, but my chipping and around the green game is inadequate. My iron play comes and goes. I am pretty reliable off the tee and on the green though.

i am heading out to play tomorrow and friday after work

I was supposed to take my kids to Branson/Silver Dollar City Thursday and Friday. Well, that isn't going to happen. SDC isn't even going to open. I was really looking forward to that.

I am the opposite. NO consistency off the tee or mid-game. Right, left, 10 yards off the ground, you never know where it is headed. Short game isn't bad.

I know it is just more practice hitting the ball.
