March Madness and Covid-19

This is extremely misinformed. The world with out the United States being the globa military power would be a scary place to live and millions and millions would die

Who said we wouldn't still be the global military power if we got rid of not-needed or redundant weapons systems and some military bases?

The stats in that medium article are very interesting....at least it’s counter to the current group think going on

In what should be seen as some good news. New York has a death rate of .48% and the national rate is below 1.2% and both have been dropping over the past number of days.

And this would be beautiful if true. Vaccine being developed in weeks.

https://www.jpost.com/HEALTH-SCIENC...weeks-we-will-have-coronavirus-vaccine-619101

And will continue to decline.

Our national rate has actually gone up in the last three days. It was 1.15% and is now 1.25%. This has also happened in South Korea.

More testing for sickness also means more testing for people that have died. There are three cases in DFW that show this. 3 elderly people died, two in a nursing home. One was a 63 yr old man that died in his home in Richardson. In each of these cases, they were found to have COVID19 posthumously. Three or four weeks ago, these just would have been chalked up to pneumonia, some sickness, or old age and would not have been tested for any virus.

Don't assume that our death rate will drop to like .50% just because we are doing more testing and there are more cases. Even at .50%, that is 5-10x more deadly than the flu.

This... The US has about 5,000 nuclear weapons and an insane amount of everything else from tanks, to jets, to drones, etc. They consider it a deterrent against any power if you have 1 nuclear bomb, let alone 5,000 of them.

I am not saying to drop the military... I am saying that there is lots of not-needed and redundant weapons systems (to use his language) in the military. The F-35 is a trillion dollar program and currently has no practical use. It's a waste.

Don't even try to act like you have the info to make decisions/calls like that.

Good grief. Scientist and global military expert. smh

Lmao, you get so triggered over some message board posts. I'm not an expert on the global military powers, but I know enough to have an opinion, that I expressed. There's a mountain of information out there. If you have some knowledge to refute my opinion, that's great! I'm more than happy to have a conversation about it.

The f35 has no need?

That is lol funny

You work for the DOD, I defer to your expertise on the topic, but I have read many many words about the "F-35 boondoggle."

Those are different conversations.

Has the program had major issues absolutely yes. (Some caused by the military and not industry).

Does it has a use is a different question.

The answer is yes. It replaces. Tons of very very old aircraft. That are ending their practical lives

Right, but I think abd's point (and he can correct me if I'm wrong) is that we don't even really need manned fighter jets anymore. We have drones, and hyper-accurate missiles than can do the job just as well, if not better.

The drones don’t have much of the same capability as manned fighters

Close air support. Air interdiction. National defense protection. Ect
