MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Outside of McCollum the rest of those rankings probably aren't going to raise much hope for next season. Will just get enough bodies in to fill out the roster.

I’m betting you were throwing a fit when we lost the much worse ”ranked” ou players to the portal over the last few weeks, though, right?

Well see.. the rankers are extremely high on mccollum while adding our highly ranked hs kids which alone could be a net gain. Everyone on the portal rankings is better than what we lost but for hill who is possibly downgrading to unlv lol

We need some 5's now. And we can still upgrade any/every position further

Only 4 big 12 teams got or are projected to get a higher ranked portal kid (currently we have a higher portal kid than KU even..)

The rankings are a bit all over the place -- other sites have him in the 20s or 30s or even lower. It reminds me of the "World's Greatest Dad" t-shirt on Seinfeld -- I'm not sure how official any of these rankings are lol.

But he is definitely a good guy to get for our first piece of the puzzle. I wish he were taller and bigger, but I'm happy we got him and hope his game holds up well in the Big 12.

Finally… McCollum is a good player. Our backcourt has a chance to be special. It’s obvious but Moser/OU NIL needs to do whatever it takes to get some front court help next year hopefully next to Traore. We need a bigger body that can rebound the ball.

I guess the rumors of him being able to go anywhere he wants were overstated.

Hill was the #35 portal guy in the country, according to the rankings many are citing here, which would suggest he had any number of quality options. However, many guessed early on that he would sign with UNLV. Vegas is home for him and he's familiar with the head coach, so it's no surprise that's where he chose to go.

Posted on other board.. but Caleb Grill has turned down $500k from WV. He will announce today/tonight I believe.. big school, less money, but the situation was better I guess.

He said that WV has three players making over $700k each. Money is not an issue there.

Either his options were exaggerated, or he simply doesn't want to compete at a high level.

You exaggerated by saying that people had said he could go anywhere he wanted. No one said any such thing.

None of us can say what motivated Hill's decision. But again, many predicted from the beginning that he would end up at UNLV, which very much goes against your unfounded pronouncement.
