MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

So far we have replaced a 16ppg scorer at the Big 12 level with a 16ppg scorer for a 17-15 Sienna team... and we added 8 points and 3 rebounds per game post from Pitt in place of a 10 point and 7 rebound guy (Groves) at OU.

These are nice players to have on your team, still concerned we aren't getting any better than last year... unless of course Oweh and Uzan turn into studs which is possible. But McCollum and Hugley are not upgrades over Sherfield and Groves.

Agree or disagree?

I think you are somewhat cherry picking by using Hugley's stats from a year where he played 8 games and was injured. At his best, as a sophomore, he put up better numbers than Tanner. If he isn't better than Tanner, it will be disappointing and will make it tough for us to do much as a team. I think your point about Grant/McCollum is a legit one, mainly because I think Grant was undervalued by people because some of his worst games came late. I guess it just depends on how McCollum transitions to the Big 12, and how his overall game compares to Grant's. Maybe he will give us more defensively and athletically. But Grant pretty much carried us for the first two months of the season. I'd hate to know how bad our record would have been without him.

You don't know this.

No. I don’t. It is my opinion right now. I could be wrong. No one will know until games are played. He appears to be more athletic and have more playmaking ability. To me. Sometimes I post my opinion on fan discussion boards. Please excuse my intrusion.

If we can't land a legit 4 or someone that our coaches can trust to play impactful minutes.. why not just go small. Start Oweh at the 4. Cole/transfer. This would maybe allow us to gain another good guard/wing. If a guard like Small knew this, maybe we could land someone like that.

Uzan
McCollum
Cooper/Transfer
Oweh/Cole/Godwin or transfer
Hugley/Traore or Godwin.

Now hang on, the Phillips dude in the McCollum commits thread said he is the next Trae Young so we should be fine on outside shooting. LOL!

I thought Bam was going to be more of a difference maker...the other 2, not at all. Bam was definitely a letdown to most on here.

this was the consensus Bam would play and contribute ..

Benny and Northweather were not expect to do much as freshman ..

LOL!! Yes, that post cracked me up. He allegedly evaluates NBA prospects and labels McCollum as "as exciting as any player I have evaluated." I'm sure he is trying to get clicks, but talk about hyperbole.

No need to apologize, you have a right to an opinion the same as the guy who challenged you!

So what if posters like you and me are wrong? Message boards would be a boring place if posters like us didn’t have the freedom to express our thoughts about existing players as well as recruits!

Quite a few thought Benny would contribute for sure.

Yep. That list included me! The early take and the videos available had me believing he was well on his way to being a pro, not the athletic, underdeveloped high school kid who had a long way to go.

Too bad he didn’t have that chance! I still believe he has a lot of potential.

I about spit my coffee when I read that.

He won't be the outside shooter that Tanner was but he is definitely a superior guy in the paint....gets to the line WAY better than Tanner which tells you he is better in the paint.

If we can find a stretch four to compliment him I think we would see a definite improvement

I'll refer you to Bamisile, Joe or Groves, Jacob. We just don't know yet. I *hope* he's better, much better. But I've learned that you just can't predict this stuff.
