It was posted another another Site that it looks like the City of Norman, the Norman Chamber of Commerce, OU, the OU foundation are going back to work on a potential sports venue and entertainment district At University Park.

What are the realistic odds this happened? The LNC is a dump and OU is in dire need of a new arena. I really believe that a new arena would inject a lot of new life into this program.

the county is involved as well ..

this project was never dead and this time i think it might actually have a chance ..

Sure hope you guys are right! That would be front page news if it proves to be true!!!

I received a survey from OU regarding my thoughts on the new arena and if I would purchase season tickets and premium seating. The focus for OU sports was men’s and women basketball plus women’s gymnastics.

Also checking if I as a Norman resident was for or against the new arena.

Yes, men and women's basketball, football, gymnastics and trying to get softball tickets.

I do not buy season tix.
I would be more likely to with it being north norman but still not likely due to other priorities. I would definitely attend more games though.

I just received the survey and I'm a little skeptical of them calling it a multi use arena. Isn't that what the LNC is? I want a basketball arena

I am a season ticket holder for football and softball, Sooner club Bud Wilkinson member. I was formerly a men's and women's season ticket holder, one of the main reasons no longer am is game times- too many weekday conference games at 6 or 8, very very few at 7. Living in north Edmond those are tough times, hard to get to Norman by 6 and hard to not get home until almost 12 when working the next day. I would likely, if they built this, consider getting tickets again, and said so in the survey I also filled out.

I have season tickets and love them. Also go to the women’s games which my wife really enjoys (she’s not into sports except for this and college baseball).

Used to have season tickets to UNC games when I worked at the university there and so that’s what I compare Lloyd Noble too. UNC is twice the size and draws bigger crowds most games. Lloyd Noble is much more intimate with better sight lines and more comfortable seating. I really don’t have any problems with the arena that many of you do.

Of course the other plus for me is being within walking distance and being retired, so the games are easy. I’d prefer renovating our current facility or building something new on campus, but I believe on campus is the key. Not sure attendance will improve with a new arena on the north side…especially with students who usually show up in decent numbers for conference games and big non conference games.

I go to about 8 home games a year. I would buy season tickets if it’s a they built a new arena. Lloyd Noble is a complete dump.

We really need this to happen. It’s way past time to get this done.

I think the opposite. You will get much better attendance with it being on the north side. Most people don’t live in Norman like you do. The difference in the lnc and north Norman is huge

Also, I’ve never seen someone complement the sight lines at the LNC

The main problem with LNC is the crowd is too far from the court. I can see where an arena on the north side of Norman might increase the attendance of people who live in Moore, OKC and Edmond but I worry that it won't increase student attendance.

I believe the north arena will be built and college sports will not go back to the good old days. We can fuss, whine and swear till we pass out, won't matter.

So will they be proactive with this entertainment district and add an on ramp to 35 north at Rock Creek and exit 35 south. Will they widen Tecumseh rd from I35 to 12th? Or will they wait till people say traffic is the reason they stay away?

I'd love to see student attendance increase but that seems to be a tough nut to crack. When we speak of students, I assume we're speaking of those in the dorms and perhaps the Greek houses near campus? I would think a shuttle bus or trolley to the new arena from two or three key spots would be key to attracting students--one that runs several times pre- and post-game. And given that the new arena is supposed to have amenities that will attract visitors on non-game days, maybe the city of Norman will set up regular bus service to the facility seven days a week.

Years ago when my son went to Northwestern the student gov't set up a shuttle bus service for sports and it was very successful. Might help at OU.

Was comparing LNC to Smith Center at UNC. More seats actually closer to the floor and no nosebleed sections. I really like the orange seats also.😳
