I think a lot depends on the jump that McGusty and Doolittle make, and if James can rebound and be anywhere close t the player he looked to be becoming at the end of last season.

We're not going to be very "strong" inside, even with Polla. I don't expect much out of him. Freeman and Buford seem like career backups to Doolittle at this point.

Still eats me up that Odomes will be a junior next year. Shoulda redshirted last year... ahhhhhh!!!

Anyways, thanks for putting this together Traveler! I love our Youth and agree WT that we now just need someone to step up and be the next Ryan Spangler.

What is the starting lineup?

Clearly Young, McGusty, Doolittle and Lattin are locks. I'm guessing James or Shepherd for the final spot?

I'd expect 2 from that roster to be gone.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I could see Buford or Freeman leaving.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I could see Buford or Freeman leaving.

Agreed. I can see Buford leaving, and I can see Freeman going to play professionally in New Zealand or Australia.

I'm not usually cynical, but I agree at least one will be gone. Unlike you, I don't have any inside information. I'm strictly a numbers guy, and I don't remember the last year which there was no attrition. I would say realistically there have been no more than one or two years this century which no attrition occurred. Perhaps this will be the year, but how can one not have their doubts?

Buford doesn't have a redshirt year, right? So if he transfers he only gets one year to play.

Agree. Sometimes kids just dont work as hard as youd like or they get over recruited or sometimes they dont fit ala Jelon Hornbeak.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I could see Buford or Freeman leaving.

I would be surprised. Both of them have already redshirted and would lose a year of eligibility if they left.

I wouldn't be surprised if a player or two leaves, but I don't have a clue who it might be.

I was told by a source I trust that the staff would like to sign a juco or grad transfer Big to give us more size (I hope that means bulk) on the interior. The only way that can happen is if someone leaves.

It wouldn't surprise me to see someone transfer and, were it not for the fact that they couldn't redshirt, Buford or Freeman might seem like the right choice. It's possible Strong-Moore or Shepherd could transfer if they feel like they won't get playing time with Young here. The other guy I could see transferring is James. He's already lost his starting spot and he's unlikely to get it next year with Young coming in. In fact, it possibly reduces his playing time even further. If he's frustrated with how the season's gone he might look for a change of scenery.

I hope it doesn't happen because I still believe in him. Players have bad seasons and he's still a good player and can be an integral part of the team for the next couple of seasons. But I could see him seeing it differently.

In desperate need of 3pt shooters. Specialists.

I would be absolutely shocked if Freeman left. He can develop into a nice complementary player. He'll probably never start over Dootlittle, but I don't think he has to in order to contribute a good number of meaningful minutes to this team.

I would be less shocked if Buford left. He might thrive with starter minutes at a smaller school, but he'd only have 1 year of D1 eligibility remaining, which makes it a pretty big risk.

Strong-Moore... With Young coming in I don't see many minutes from him next year. Maybe I'm wrong, but Shepherd seems like he'll take a bigger leap from freshman to sophomore, and he's already getting more minutes. But again, he doesn't have much eligibility left.

James would be the big bummer that wouldn't be completely out of left field. Kind of like Hornbeak. But I think he can be better than Hornbeak.

Odomes probably, maybe James if he gets his swagger back.
