OU vs KU 8pm CST ESPN2

Ha! This is amazing. 81 can’t let it go. I think he’s the last one left from the “we can’t get in” which then morphed into the we “don’t deserve to get in.” No matter how may people and how many facts are thrown out the goalposts just keep moving. Currently, we are on arbitrary guidelines of the committee selection process with the last 4 in or out.

I too felt like I was taking crazy pills but now it’s just amusing. No lie: keeps me logging in a lot! Ha!

A lot of anger Ada lol, sad. Is this not a board where everyone can express their own thoughts and opinions? Or do you only want posters that go with what you want? It doesn’t “make me feel better” lol it’s just my opinion and what I think and my Feelings don’t depend on this chat board (This is a GAME it’s not serious real world life - it’s kids shooting and chasing a ball - many on here need to find something else in real life and quit taking a game so seriously). I’m ok with you having your thoughts, you should be ok with everyone else having their own

I’ve had enough of you and your thoughts! My advice is to move on to another topic while you can.

Posting on this board is free to everyone. It’s also a privilege not a right, made possible by the guy you have continued to ignore as if he doesn’t deserve your respect. I won’t be nearly as patient as Boulder has been with you. Don’t push your luck!

I’m just having fun with some of you, you included. A lot of angry folks on here. Again, it’s JUST AN OPINION. Mine doesn’t have to be like yours unless this forum is called the OUHoops uniformity forum lol. And you should actually read my posts, I’m a Sooner fan and Glad we are probably going to get in. Just disagree with some that we should. Again the last four in was talking to one poster about When they would dig deeper into several schools resume - and I am correct on that. So I guess since I simnply answer other posters responses then “I can’t give it up”. Sure lol

Put in the conference champions and fill out the rest of the field with the best teams. Why is this such a difficult concept for some?

I'm a bigger Kruger critic than most on this board but OU has done enough this year to be in the field. Throw the records out. Is OU one of the best 68 teams in the country? If you dont think so please list 68 teams that are better and/or more "deserving." Good luck.

Well do what you have to do biggin. No skin off my back. And for the record back at ya, I’ve had enough of you as well. You know if you don’t comment on me personally or my posts I won’t respond lol. It’s easy. I’ve shown everyone respect on here, although I and most don’t Know anyone else on here, that has shown me respect. If you don’t show politeness why do you expect to receive it back? That’s a normal in life, to get respect give respect. I live by it everyday in business and relationships and some of you all should try it. There are many awesome posters on here and a few not so. Kind of like life.
I would encourage you to not take yourself so seriously and try to just have some fun, reduces your health risks
And this started because I wrote my opinion, that MANY on here have shared as well in their posts, that a few of the players should always ride the pine. I wasn’t hateful to them as a person as I’m sure they are nice guys. But my comments regarded their basketball skills or lack of. And I promise you those guys don’t read forums like this hahaha. Then several of you all came after me personally so I responded. Don’t come after me and just share your opinion of the post and all is well - but I wwon’t be bullied like some on here do like they are still in junior high.
So again, this is a GAME and it’s for fun and is for entertainment and a few on here need to broaden their horizons imo.

And your post above confirms what I said that you responded to. Makes me think of the movie Elf where he told the guy “your not an elf, your an angry elf - no your a South Pole elf” lol

When you call people or label people "angry" because they disagree with you....that can be interpreted as disrespectful. Also, when you're giving "life advice"....well if I were you, I wouldn't go there after your behavior on this thread. And for the record, I've stated that I think you're a fan that loves OU, but your arguments are invalid and some of your responses (especially to the board moderators) have been inappropriate. I would've given you the boot a page or two back. It's nothing personal, but there is a certain decorum on this forum most of the time.

Storm, angry because of the response. I live in the real world and all kinds of people disagree with each other- that’s life, coming at someone is angry. LOL my “behavior” is just answering people coming at me Personally. I’m very OK with someone commenting on the thoughts without commenting on the poster - that hasn’t been the case. The “decorum” on this particular forum you reference is subjective, it is adhered to sometimes as I read threads and then abandoned frequently - by Most on here. Just read the threads lol. Again, I’m in a high level business arena and am Very good at reading people/comments/situations and I know when someone needs to step away and when someone is insulting the poster and not the post - it happens a lot on here (so much for decorum).

This is just. A fun little sidebar for me and Should be for all on here, evidence exists that it is not LOL. Again, people keep coming at me personally and I respond. Discuss my basketball opinions and all is good, but just look back at the thread and see the “decorum” that has caused me to respond - it doesn’t square with what you said above happens on here.
Several on here crack me up

Who caaaaaaarrrressss. Were in. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

I'm with you to a degree. However, I am a tournament nerd, and have been for a long time, so I love the discussion---even if it gets a little silly.

I guess I'm particularly interested in the fact that so many of these erroneous myths and notions about selection/seeding still linger despite all the available data and information. The committee literally publishes its selection process and criteria. We have over 30 years of historical selection/seeding data. There's a good reason why Lunardi and others like him are so "accurate". Overall, the committee is really quite predictable (there are the occasional surprises). I guess I like dispelling some of those silly myths and explaining why the committee could never, in practice, consider some of these "criteria" in their process. To me, it's part of the fun of March.

i feel very much the same way

100% agree. As Zimwillett said, there is a reason why even amateurs can usually successfully predict all but two or three teams in the field. Lots of info out there and it's interesting to follow, and the discussion is best when people understand what the committee is looking for.

While the selection process might have changed somewhat dramatically the result will be somewhat the same for there will be teams which make the tournament as an at large invite and they will fall flat on their face in the first round while some teams left out would have won these games.

Half the teams that make the tournament will lose their first game. True bubble teams SHOULD lose their first game, as they will be an underdog probably 90-95% of the time. So losing in the first round doesn't mean that a team didn't deserve its spot. And don't forget, there are also plenty of examples of a team getting in as a controversial selection, then winning multiple games. I think one of the biggest outcries in recent memory was VCU in 2011, and they ended up in the FF.

That doesn't really address my point. In baseball the coach might decide to make a change and bring in a pinch hitter. The coach had 5 players to choose from. The player selected ends up striking out and I'm saying that if the other possible choices were relied on there would be that player who got the job done. My point is changing the selection process does not change this from happening one iota.

So if OU went 13-0 in the non-con, and 6-12 in the league... Losing your last 12 games in a row, that does not matter to the committee?

Really, from a historical standpoint, the committee's seeding and selection is pretty good. Here's the historical data:

http://mcubed.net/ncaab/seeds.shtml

So you can see, 1 seeds win almost 80% of all the games they play in the tournament, 2 seeds 70%, 3 seeds 64%, 4 seeds a around 60%, and so on, and so forth as you go down each seed progressively wins a smaller % of games.

And it's even more remarkable as you get into the seed vs. seed matchups in the first round:

-8/9 is almost exactly 50/50 with 8 seeds winning slightly more often
-7/10 is right around 60/40
-6/11 is around 65/35.

Same at the top:

-Obviously the 1/16 over 99%.
-The 2/15 is 95/5.
-The 3/14 is about 85/15.
-The 4/13 is 80/20.
-Even the infamous 5/12 game, the 5 wins a little over 67% of the time.

Taken together, the symmetry is actually quite impressive and speaks to how well the committee actually seeds a competitive tournament.
