OU vs Tech 8pm CST on ESPN2 at the Peake

Have you ever been to a football game at Jones Stadium? If not, here is a heads up.....don't. Tech has replaced Colorado as the most obnoxious, drunk-ass fanbase you will encounter in this conference.....yes they are worse than Texas.

I agree 100%. I haven't been to that craphole in yrs and don't plan to go back. The drunks near us were super annoying.....glad we beat them!!!

Boulder >>>>>>> Lubbock

If Kuath develops more offensively, he will be an impact player in the next couple of years

Great take! He is a redshirt junior. This is his fourth year in college!!!!
Lmao! I love reading these comments.

Really liked the way Kur played tonight. He needs more minutes. He can rotate spelling Doo or Manek. He gives us a defensive presence we haven’t had in a long time.

Absolutely he needs more minutes. Tech's lineup fits him better than what he will see Saturday though.

I thought this was the first game he was used as an actual asset on the floor, not just someone to give a breather for the bigs and come back out.

He needs more minutes.

We’ve said this about so many different players this year. Reality is they are all inconsistent. Looks great one night, and unplayable the next.

It shows potential at least.

We had a good crew of officials. I guess I just don’t know or understand the rule on charges. Got to be a coach on here knowledgeable on the rule who could explain the current rule and how it is supposed to be called. Would be appreciated

Good win. It would be hard for me to take kk out of the game. He has flaws but we his blocks and shot influences are huge.

For me, we usually play well we just don’t always shoot well. We hit some shots tonight. Boy did we need this one. I like our chances in last two over thi weekend

All I know is the rule seems to have changed where the def does NOT have to be standing still. The def has the right to an def area...so if both players are still moving, if the off creates contact and causes the def to be "moved" it can be a charge....

I've seen the arm push off called a lot this year..on other teams.

Big win. Defense was fantastic, offense was good enough. Slowed the ball down and played a defensive lineup with Hill in a lot. Williams has something going on, not engaged at all and showed some bad attitude. Beat them up inside a little bit.

after his brief cameo appearance, he untucked his jersey as he headed to the bench. I can tell you from my past coaching experience that's the "screw this" sign...but maybe something different at this level.

Ya got to figure after he's been a starter the last few games...even had some decent games to go back to very limited time can be frustrating.

Guys we need to play every game as if our lives depend on it, win and advance lose and go home.

This was a great start, now let's finish

Boomer Sooner

I think he even said something to Lon when he came off after that turnover. Lon did a double take and said something back and then Carlin took over the conversation.

JUCO to OU is rough at time I bet. Get away with a lot more in JUCO.

Great win... was on airplanes all night but checked the score when I finally landed around midnight. Didn't expect such a large margin of victory.

I didn't notice the exchange you mention, but have no doubt it happened. I would add: this is a perfect example of players being held accountable. Lots of posters seem to think that Lon doesn't do that, mainly because he doesn't rant and rave and do things in an overtly public manner. But he most definitely holds player accountable. It's not just random, dumb luck that you don't see our guts getting in fights, getting technicals, or getting in much trouble off the floor.

They call way too many in college & high school. The NBA honestly has it best. You can drive and bump somebody and it not be a foul, NBA doesn't let them sell them too often but every now and then get fooled. High school & college go flying when somebody bumps them on a drive because they know they can get the call. It should usually only be on an extended arm pushoff, lowering shoulder to make significant contact, or running somebody over who's in legal guarding position. The charge after somebody has passed it and takes more than a step is the dumbest charge in the world to me.

When I was in college we went and played against Lubbock Christian one night for basketball on a Satruday & Tech was having a home football game that night. There were 3 pickups with about 15 college kids wearing Tech gear getting drunk and talking s*** to us as we walked in for shootaround...It was like 11am.

Agree. College refs are terrible at this call, and I think part of the blame lies with the rules committee. IMHO, 80-90% of these should be called blocks. A help defender should not be rewarded for simply sliding in front of an offensive player. I agree with those who think the charge should be eliminated when a help defender is involved. If the guy guarding the ball has legal position and the offensive player runs him over, that should still be an offensive foul, but enough of the help guy sliding under a guy and drawing a charge.

I think the help guy should be allowed to take a charge, they just call it too often like you said. They need to quit rewarding guys who aren't legal, slide under, or over sell the contact and 80-90% of those charges would be blocks.

The help defender makes enforcing an already complicated rule more difficult. I liked the old interpretation of the rule where the defender was required to establish a legal guarding position with both feet on the floor before contact occurred. The defender could move laterally from that position but not to the side.

Now, officials call a charge when it was obvious the defender was still moving sideways and was not in a legal guarding position when the offensive player left his feet to pass or shoot. They also react to a flop, a violation on its own that is never called.

You’re right in that the rules committee is to blame. They keep changing the rule, which only makes matters worse not better.
