**********OU-Washburn Game Thread**********

Has either of our starting bigs scored as of yet? Against a team of this caliber the halftime scoring differential should be at least 25 to 30 points. So far there are not enough turnovers forced or enough shots contested. Not much teamwork coming from the offensive side of the ball.

Offense looks like they're playing their 30th game of the season and the legs are tired. Not enough crispness. There should have been a number of post plays set up to run. Tubbs is being very politically correct and not telling it the way he would like to.

I don't mean to pick on you or be mean....and my opinion doesn't mean much, but I have been a basketball coach for almost 20 years, including three years as a college head coach (small college but we played 3 NCAA tournament teams last year and another NIT team)......that part of your statement is completely unfounded and comes from lack of knowledge.

The difference between DI and DII basketball isn't as wide as you are trying to make it.........a 25-30 point halftime lead in your first game (exhibition) is a LOT to ask for. You are way off.

It looks to me like everybody is going at practice speed. We're also subbing in a lot of guys who won't see much time once the season really gets started.

He is going to be a good one. 7 boards, two great post to post passes, good hands around the basket.

But you didn't see him shoot those three threes. Very freshman of him.

Our offense looks putrid. Wonder if we're out of sync because we're used to having Thomas in practice and can throw the ball inside.

Need to penetrate that zone ...

I did not think the offense was bad. OU missed open shots, failed to finish at the rim and missed some free throws. Clean that stuff up and they score 50 that half.

I do agree Lattin should not be taking 3 pointers. That was bad offense.

Lattin is still learning where he fits in the offense. It might take him sometime to slide into his role, but his hustle and athleticism is really impressive.

What about the first part of my statement? Secondly, we shot about 30% for the first half. If we score at a decent rate and play a bit better on the defensive front and not allow as many open shots are you suggesting the lead would not match what I stated? And I honestly could care less if you're mean to me just as long as you are being honest.

Buddy with a hot start, but cooled off in the last ten minutes. Cousins has not been himself so far, he's shooting something like an ofer-for-six. Woodard looks good with 8 points, 5 assist and 3 steals. Lattin has been the best big on OU's team to this point. The others need to step it up in the second half.

I'm simply stating that the "expectation" to be up 25-30 just because it is a DII is unrealistic. If they wanted to be up 30 they could very well play their top 7-8 the whole time....and POSSIBLY be up like that.....but that isn't what they are trying to accomplish in a exhibition game.

I'm impressed. Really. I look forward to more of your posts.

Bennett doesn't even have a rebound. I don't think he can play more than 10 mpg.

Sorry, but I never stated anything about division II.

Same player he was last year. Which I said would likely be the case. Nothing wrong with being what he is, but what he is is the 4th or 5th best big man on a good D1 team. And that is the role he would have if Buford or Thomas were eligible. Too bad, really.

That said, you can see tons of potential in Lattin. Kid is very raw still, but I like his athleticism and energy. He never stops moving.

Lattin is better than Bennett by a good margin already. Just needs to learn team defense.
