What about the Tennis player who is going to play basketball this year? I'm not sure we will see her on the court much but she will be on the team AFAIK.

Sorry, I guess she is this year.

We have had some back to the basket type posts. It is interesting that these recruits seem to be more like the Notre Dame "posts," who seem to be power forwards playing both positions with two on the floor at one time.

I count 14. This leaves one scholarship open it Coach Coale wants to use it.

Of course there is always the chance of departures that open up recruiting spots.

i figure Sherri's been focusing on 2016 recruiting so she will save the ship for 2016 to have
at least 3 spots.

I think the logjam at SG/PG will end up with someone leaving. Especially if Ortiz and Little end up in the starting spots.

Yep, I think that's a distinct possibility/probability. In the positions 1-3 we have the following players:

Kornet
Edwards
Little
Wyatt
Carter
Manning
Ortiz
L. Williams
Penzo

That's 9 players competing for 3 positions. It is very unlikely all 9 will see enough playing time to keep them happy.

Kornet is a junior, so she isn't leaving.

Clearly, Maddie isnt going anywhere else. Little isn't transferring a second time.

That leaves six.

Carter is a sophmore with solid playing time and is the closest thing to Robinson we've seen since D-Rob graduated. She figures solidly into the rotation.

That's four.

Ortiz-Sherri is keeping her here and happy no matter what. That's five.

Penzo and Williams uproven but tantalizing. We'll see. There's time to see.

That leaves Wyatt and Edwards. To me, they both seem the odd men out. Edwards has yet to develop an offensive game of any kind despite her solid defense and speed. Wyatt may be our next Kornet, completely inconsistent but a great kid who doesn't want to leave because she's so happy here -- no matter how much she rides the pine.

Right now, Wyatt and Edwards are the obvious odd women out -- but I'm not sure I see anyone transferring.

If I had to pick two, at least, I would say Carter and Edwards.

I agree, Wyatt is not leaving, I could see Edwards, and Carter would be a long shot, so we will have to wait and see.

That might be accurate based on what we have seen. Have we seen enough?

Edwards has no shot. But, she does have a lot of ability. At the end of the game, she was better late this year than Morgan was, less likely to lose it on a steal. What if she pulls a DRob and develops a jump shot or learns to shoot a three? She was also a pretty fair defender.

I was rather surprised at one thing concerning Derica. I thought her limitation would be that she could not compete with D-1 players athletically. If anything, that had nothing to do with her limitations. She was not bad at rebounding. She seemed to have a nose for the ball, and she was deadly if she didn't think, like on a quick putback in a crowd. Her limitation came on what I had assumed would be her strength---straight on shooting. She started fast. Then, she seemed to lose all confidence in her outside shot. I've seen enough to think she is not a liability on the court, and she could be rather significant if she redevelops that confidence in her shot. I like her motion, just not her hesitation.

Kornet was a scorer who seems to play as hard as anyone that we have. But, she seems to aim her shot. Somewhere, she lost confidence in her ability to score. This seems to be a running theme. Carter and Little have lost some confidence in their shots.

If one or two of these get their confidence and begin making shots, it might free up the rest of them. The shooters are there, but they have a self-imposed lid.

I've been watching players in various stages of development. Only Sharane seems to be developing. I think I'll wait and see how the others play out.

Since C Coale and staff surprised us with first Treece and now Ijeoma Odimgbe maybe the same thing that happened with their inability to recruit will also happen to their inability to develop players.

A little bit of sarcasm intended, but mainly laughing at all of us, me included, who expect perfection from our coach and staff, and gripe when it doesn't happen.
Seriously, it is obvious that the coaching staff has seen the drawbacks we have been griping about; height on team addressed, next on agenda is renewed quality team play tip-off to final buzzer.

The three returners who didn't play much last year are Wyatt, Shaya, and Edwards. Wyatt has a boyfriend on the football team so I doubt she leaves as long as he is at OU. If playing time is important to Shaya and Edwards, they might think about going elsewhere.

Let me just say this, her boy friend isn't going any where, I know that for a fact, and that's all I'm going to say about that!!!!!:)
