.@Big12Conference has announced that the #Sooners game vs. Baylor on Saturday, 4/18, will air on Fox Sports Regional Networks!

When the season begins, it will have been nine months since her ACL injury. That should be sufficient time for recovery, especially since she is a softball player rather than a basketball or soccer player. Also, she is an exercise major which means that she should be committed to rehabilitation.

I don't know if she'll be ready to play in the outfield at first. She may end up as a DH for a while.

I don't know if she'll ever be in that zone that she was in during the Big Twelve season. That was the best timing that I have ever seen in a softball player.

She may have to stand in line for a DH position! There seem to be so many hitters on this team. Paige may be first in line when Kelsey is pitching. Hopefully, all the bats on this team allow Kady to come along at pace that's best for her. I agree about her Big 12 season last year!

Softball dynasties depend on pitching more than hitting. When you look at World Series teams, they all have at least one really good pitcher. The final two or three teams usually have a pitcher who is contender for POY. Sometimes, you can dominate a good offense. Now, it is becoming useful to have two pretty good starters. But, you can almost build a dynasty around a really good pitcher (as does Japan).

We won with Stewart who dominated. Ricketts was pretty dominant, but it also helped that we had Gascoigne who, as she demonstrated in the title game, could also dominate. Gascoigne s doing pretty well as a pro. We did win because we had enough offense to overcome the fact that Tennessee had a pretty good pitcher as well. But, whereas you could win with a couple of good hitters at one time, we won because of a rally started by the bottom of our lineup.

With Stevens getting help from Parker and Pendley, we have sufficient pitching to win it all. It helps to have Lauren back. I hope that Self is back. The addition of Nicole Pendley and Parker to the lineup, with the possibility of Arnold may overcome what I thought was a bit of a weakness last year, the bottom of our lineup was just not as strong as it had been. Too often, we loaded the bases without doing much about it.

I was rather surprised that we made it as far as we did with one really good pitcher. She performed extremely well to get us there.

I long for the day when Sherri says we have all the pieces needed to win a national championship.

I'm not sure that Sherri will say it. But, I think she feels that they are putting it together. Maddie, Gioya, Gabbi, Peyton, and Vivi will be here another two years after this one with some help coming in.

No mention of Self in her interview with Toby. She did say that Arnold would be the third baseman and Pendley the shortstop and the younger Pendley the starting center fielder.

Right on about the bottom of the lineup last year. That, the injuries and thin pitching depth were all contributors in our not defending our championship last year. Keeping my fingers crossed about injuries, we seem to be well positioned to make a strong run this season.

Can't wait to see what Parker and young Pendley (Thing II, as Coach called her) add to the team this spring.

The Sooners have been ranked in every weekly poll since 1995 (290 weeks).

Look for Chamberlain at 1B, Casey at 2B, S. Pendley at SS, Arnold at 3B, Ellis at C, N. Pendley in CF. Outfield spots still up for grabs.

Starting lineup may look a little different this year. Coach Gasso says 3 or 4 freshmen could crack the opening day lineup.

Coach Gasso says that Kady Self is still slowed by ACL injury, but isn't too far behind. Needs to regain explosive first-step.

Gasso: "This team reminds me a little bit of the 2013 team. There isn't much of a weakness."

#Sooners MT @espnW: Meet Lauren Chamberlain & Shelby Pendley of @OU_Softball: the Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig of softball. http://es.pn/1LEpRoU

We really need Kady to recover. She is the most steady bat, the one that you just couldn't strike out late in the year.

I think she will. She just needs some more time and fortunately, I think we have good enough players to allow her that extra time. We really need her to be ready by the middle of conference schedule, around the first to the middle part of April. If Lauren has no problems this season, I think our hitting will be fine.

We have enough good players to win. I think Kady is the type of hitter that can make us almost invincible. Lauren and Pendley go through slumps, and they may strike out at the most inopportune times. Kady began a bit slow last year, but by conference season, she had the most controlled bat that I have ever seen in softball. She always seemed to make contact and put the ball in play, usually finding holes. She also had some power. But, what I loved were just the hard hits with someone on second or third that could score a run.

I am amazed at how the girls can hit a softball. Nearly two-thirds of the outs in men's softball are strikeouts. Of course, a good male pitcher throws about ten mph faster. But, it amazes me that these kids can be running while still swinging and make contact every time. Maybe the guys are overswinging.

Kady was the most remarkable of all to me. When a pitcher seemed dominating, she could hit the ball hard. She always seemed to move runners along, something sometimes difficult to do. That type of hitter can make the best opposition pitchers look bad at times. They give you hope against the best.

I just hope she returns by tournament time, and I hope that she has that stroke again. That is the zone of a very smart hitter who knows how to control her swing.
