Sometimes it's the little things that go unnoticed that carries a team to a win. Such was the case with the three charges TaShawn Thomas drew in last night's game.

None of them were even mentioned when TaShawn's stats were discussed later, but they all came at crucial points of the game when the outcome was still in doubt.

Twelve points. Eight rebounds.

But his biggest plays weren’t recorded in the box score.

Thomas drew three charges in the game — two in a span of just more than a minute and a half — to help the Sooners pull out the win.

All three led to Oklahoma points on the ensuing possessions.

Great point Ada. I didn't understand all the criticism of Thomas last night. The 3 charges plus 12 points and 8 rebounds. We had a big advantage last night with Thomas and Spangler.

Thomas has good low post moves and will break out in some game.

Actually one of the charges should have been a blocking call. We got a fortunate call.

I don't get it either, usedtobe1.

While it's true TaShawn didn't have a good first half, except on the boards, there is no way OU wins that game if he had failed to show up in the second half. When you combine his 10 points and 8 rebounds with solid defense that included the three aforementioned charges he took, he had a great game.

I know one thing, I'm sure glad he is finishing his college career in a Sooner uniform!

Too many times we take someone's points rebounds and assists etc as their total value to the team...the coaches knew how huge those charges were..something they can point out to the rest of the team in film study..sure I wish he were more aggressive because I think he has it in him but I'm not going to jump on the guy for it

Yes, got fortunate on second one, but those three were huge TOs for the other guys. The final one on Forte was a backbreaker.

After a tough first half, Tae came up big. We are fortunate to have him this season.

i didn't see the game (i was flying back from Asia), but on the rivals or something highlight thing i watched linked at this site i saw at least two TT putbacks on missed Sooner shots. that's key. turning a missed O possession not only into an O board but a bucket.

pretty low scoring game and 2/3 possession changes with the charging takes mentioned and the putbacks. that's a ten point differential on the floor.

pretty good.

Here's the deal with Thomas. Given his size and skill, he should bet getting 12 points and 8 rebounds against a team with horrible post players (like Oklahoma State) every single time he steps his foot on the court.

My criticism of Thomas isn't that he's a bad basketball player or lacks ability. It's that he's massively underachieving and doesn't play hard for an entire game, every game. He takes possession off. He is soft. I think he could be doing so much more.

It was nice seeing him attack the basket and take the charges in the second half. I was sitting there thinking "what has happened to Thomas" during the first half.
