Sooner colors could take over GIA Wednesday | The Oklahoman

“I've never imagined that something like that could happen,” said Donna Yost, a longtime Cowboys season ticket holder. “Not with OSU basketball. Not at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

“If it happens, it'll be heartbreaking.”

There won't be more OU fans there, but it's comical to see those people get worked up about the possibility.

How cool would it be if OU colors occupied even a fourth of the GIA seats?!!!

I remember when Okie State fans would come to this board to brag about a packed house and students camping out on the front lawn to make sure they were able to attend games. Poke fans had a reason to be proud back then. What they didn't have to do is come over here and rub it in. Now, it's our turn!

for those going that have never been to gia ... if you are in the upper deck prepare to have the worst sight line in all of college basketball .. a truly terrible place to watch a game .. (unless you are down very low)

True..but there's the very real possibility the OU fans will be making more noise

Travis Ford is worried about the takeover, too:

Through eight home games this season, Oklahoma State has drawn an average of 4,932 fans per game inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. TCU is the only Big 12 team with lower home attendance with a 4,862 average.

“I think everybody's facing it,” OSU coach Travis Ford said. “Some more than others.”

Three Big 12 teams average more than 10,000 home fans per game: Kansas (16,557), Iowa State (14,182) and Texas (11,625).

The Cowboys are 6-2 at Gallagher-Iba Arena this season and host the Sooners at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Ford addressed the various reasons why raising attendance can be a challenge.

“There's just so many options, whether it be the Thunder or so many games on TV,” Ford said. “There's a lot of different factors involved in it, but yeah, you're always wanting loud crowds and big crowds, and that's what every coach wants
