Anyone know Lon’s record in this place? I can’t remember us ever winning more than one game

Lon is 2-8 in the Big-12 Tournament.

He is batting .200

Makes for a short visit to KC for Sooner fans.

No joke. I’m just pulling into KC. Can’t make this **** up. Ha!

Been to the last 2 losses. Making me rethink going to the hall of fame tourney next November

yup....on top mu is in it so tickets will be "hard to get cheap"...the good is the mu sucks more than OU this year.

If I'm not mistaken, those pre-conference tourneys are the only tourneys that Lon has been good in. He's so incredibly bad in postseason play that I'm starting to forget KS even had a postseason problem.

KS was pretty good in the post-season conference tournaments. I went to many of them and rarely went home after the first game.

KS certainly had too many early exits from all those NCAA tournaments he got OU into.

Yea but the same could be said about lon. In his 8 years we have won a tournament game in two

No doubt. I'm doing this from memory, so I may be a game or two off...but you'll get the gist in that we showed up to play in the Conference Tournaments.

1-1, 0-1, 2-1, 3-1, 0-1, 2-1, 3-0, 3-0, 3-0, 1-1, 1-1, 0-1

That's a 19-9 record from 1995-2006...to 2-8 from 2012-2019. Yikes!

Your memory is very good, as the actual record was 18-9 (I think).

18-9 Overall Record in Conference Tournaments

So, in 12 conference tournaments, KS was One-and-Done three times.
In 8 seasons at OU, Lon has been One-and-Done 6 times.

Not that it's important, but I'm pretty sure we went to the Big XII Championship game in 2000 - only to be beaten by Iowa State. If that was the case, we would have had to win two games. Also, in 1998, I thought we had to play 4 games (hence the 3-1 record). Hey, I'm wrong about things all the time, so that part isn't a big deal. But I still think KS went 19-9 and not 17-9.

Thanks for the audit. I have to use my glasses AND a magnifying glass to read the small print in the "Year-By-Year Results" in the Press Guide that OU mails to me each year. You are certainly correct about 2000. OU beat Mizzou and Texas that year in KC, before falling to Iowa State in the finals.

According to the OU Press Guide, in the 1998 tournament OU beat Mizzou and Texas, before losing to Kansas in the finals. So Kelvin was at least 18-9. My guess is that I made another mistake somewhere and he was really 19-9 as you originally posted.

Those KS coached OU teams, more times than not, at least made it to the semi-finals. That helped make all those trips to Kemper Arena in KC memorable (even if my memory is not the best).

3-10 in KC in the '10s. Two semi appearances I think. Glad I can't remember a lot of those games. Really the only ones which stick out are the Buddy "run" and being thrilled to beat the Oklahoma Aggies in front of scores of fans one late Thursday night.

18-9 it is. There is no way we would have played 4 games in the 1998 conference tournament with an 11-5 record. Regardless, I long for those days. We won 4 conference tournament games since Kelvin move on 13 years ago. I’ll assume that is dead last by far in the Big XII.
