Tech at OU

I actually think our defense tonight saved us. That and Tech's ability to foul us at will and send us to the line.

Terrible shooting night, but I will discuss that in a thread I'm about to start.

We can't always play at a high level. There are going to be off nights. I'm hoping tonight is the last one or next to last one we have this season.

Although we did not shoot a high percentage on free throws, we shot 35 to their 9.

During halftime, Jessica Coody said that Gioya had been under the weather.

In the first half she looked like she couldn't catch her breath. Sherri confirmed in the press conference. My guess is there may have been several others under the weather as well.

Sherri described it perfectly as "plodding". But at the end of the day, OU scored more points than their opponent. I'll take that over a pretty loss any day of the week. I think the team could learn more from how they worked for this win than they could from a 20 point blow out.

Finally hats off to Tech, they played some good defense and had a good game plan.

I liked the way Tech played, they went after the win with a palpable fervor. There are two teams right now in the Big 12 that own 14 conference wins. Combined, the other eight teams have won 21. I don't need math to know what needs to be done. But I can see a clear road to where we want to be.

Yeah, the women's BB team won at Tech handily a few weeks ago, but had their worst game of the conference season in LNC yesterday. Hopefully, they got the lousy play out of their system before going to Austin. Even missing their center with the unpronounceable name, it could still be a dogfight if they try to sleepwalk through the game... Or are handicapped by several "under the weather" girls...

The ladies are getting ready to enter the tough part of their schedule; up until now, they have played the bottom dwellers of the conference, with the exception of Texas, who at the time of the game, still had their stud center, and the road game at TCU.
That changes pretty soon, and I don't expect them to be able to keep pace with Baylor, unfortunately. I like Sherri and despise Kim Mulkey, but IMO Mulkey is the superior coach and coaches her players up better than does Sherri, to say nothing of recruiting better.

I am sure that I'll be flamed for stating such an unpopular opinion...

Note that I did not say that I would rather have Kim than Sherri. Kim has been known to skirt or break the rules to get what she wants. I prefer Sherri, despite what I said in my earlier post.

I can't really comment on your original post since I don't consider Kim Mulkey to be a legitimate subject as a coach. Since she is an outlaw in every respect, she doesn't merit consideration as a coach. The discussion of how life functions is physiology. The study of how an infection works is pathology.

LOL! You will notice in my original post that I said that I despise Mulkey. Nothing has changed, I have difficulty in even watching a game she is coaching.

I would be thrilled to be wrong on both counts (not keeping pace with Baylor), and the relative merits (from an "effective" coaching standpoint) of the two coaches.

Western Kentucky lost to UTSA. We should be ranked in the Top 25 on Monday.

We won't be. Too many wins by teams in the bottom half of the top 25. We'll get there, when is the question.
