This is Cool!!!

sorry to be this way and don't take it personal, but if you don't get the fuss about top daug, then you aren't a die hard who has been following the team since the 80s.

What is it like to be so hard core? We arent going to get into the whose had season tix longer convo now are we? Relax man its not that serious.

I don't really get the TOP DAUG love affair either. I also think that is a really cheesy name for a student fan group...sorry flame away.

To be honest, our group contributes more to the program than most posters on this board, so we can name the group whatever we want.

And if you don't get the love for Top Daug, you never will and that's a shame.

I think the Schooner was only about nine years older than Top Daug. It's not like the Schooner has been around since Mex.

Or Little Red, for that matter.

let me put this to rest. yes, top daug is a huge deal, can't wait until i scan my picture so i can show all you doubters the level of euphoria a 5 year old had when i got my picture taken with him. sorry to be this way and don't take it persoanl, but if you don't get the fuss about top daug, then you aren't a die hard who has been following the team since the 80s.
Bingo! Long live Top Daug!

I cant believe I'm stepping into an argument on this... but... booger, youre wrong. That wall is 7-8 feet, I sit right on top of it. Go to soonersports.com and do the view-from-seat thing and you will see that the top of the wall isnt more than a couple of feet below the rim. The pep band and students sit in front of it on risers.

Maybe Jimmy V was 8 foot tall.

Also, Top Daug ruled and represented the best era in Sooner hoops history.. how could any OU basketball fan not like Top Daug?

The sooner schooner became the official mascot in 1980. I gotta feeling that if it was taken away after 20+ years a whole lot of people would be pissed off about it.

Heck I never watched an OU basketball game until after they retired Top Daug and I still want him back because pretty much everyone wants him back, so it would boost attendance which is number 2 on my priority list after #WINNING

Dear Coach Kruger,

There seems to be a riff amongst Sooner fans. To settle this, I suggest the following:

1) Provide life size posters on the wall of the student section, i.e. Blake Griffin, Wayman Tisdale, Stacey King, etc. Have them marked in feet and inches up to 8 feet. This should accomplish two things. It would show each student how tall they are compared to Sooner greats. And it will settle a long standing argument about how tall that wall is.

2) Coach the first game in the Top Daug costume. Don't ask questions. Just exit your office, take a left, walk 43 paces, wait, how tall are you? Ok, 39 paces. There is a small door on your right. Check the breast pocket on your overcoat, no, the other one. Remove the envelope you find and take out the key inside, kneel down, on your knees, not crouched on your feet(this is very important), use the key to open the first lock, open the door with your left hand. Inside you will see a ladder, lean forward and grab the left and right sides of the ladder, at the top, make sure both hands grab the ladder at the same time, and brace yourself. The ladder will begin moving downward at a rate of 6 feet per second. 7 seconds later you'll arrive in a room. In this room is a safe, the combination is 33, 23, 33, 10, 10, 23. When the door opens, enter the safe, left foot first, then right foot. The door will close behind you. Don't worry this is normal. On the hangar you will see a costume. Don't look around, just put it on. Once inside the costume you will begin to see a computer image appear in your left eye. You will see a menu bar listed: Practice facility, Game Court, Locker Room. You can scroll through the choices by grabbing each ear of your costume and pulling from side to side. Left to scroll left, right to scroll right. Use the scroll to select locker room. Once the arrow, is highlighting "locker room", turn and face the door. Begin a sprint towards the door, about 9 feet prior to the door, use your momentum to slide on your knees towards the door. You will see a bright Crimson smoke, and you may hear angels singing(this is normal), when the smoke clears, you will be in the locker room. Your players will be circled around you waiting for instructions. Say nothing, put one finger in the air, and head for the court, your team will follow.
If you do this exactly, an NCAA tournament title is in your future.

Have a great day.

Clearly, he hasn't been to a game at the LNC. ;)

IN, Top Daug request sent!! screw any of you who do not like it! sorry but thats plain how its going to be.

I told him to go out and find a bunch of hot 30, 40, and 50 somethings. Sit them all together in the middle of the student section and call them "Kruger's Cougars"

Kruger or the intern who screens them will regret this decision by May.

Sent email, requested to bring Top Daug back, for the big games at least, if the university wont budge. Also requested an annual game in Tulsa.

As much as I would hope that would occur, I just don't think anyone is going to LNC because TD suddenly is back on the court. Fans would cheer for him but I don't see anyone showing up who would not otherwise do so.

For everyone who loved Top Daug, you have people like my niece, who was TERRIFIED of him when she was little! :D

Eh, maybe not 8 feet. More like 6 or 7. Anyway, my point still stands about you living far away. You've admitted to not coming to a home game for years. Ya monday morning quarterback you!

i am 6'4, have stood next to that wall many times, and it is not taller than me
