It pains me to say it, but these past few years have turned me into a jaded person when it comes to OU basketball as the lows continue to build. That our tradition rich program has reached the point that our super bowl is attempting to beat a bunch of toupee wearing chickenhawks. But that is what OU has become. Yes it brings a tear to my eye to realize this is the point OU basketball has reached. Right now is not the time for this self pitying or loathing.

For one day instead of lamenting about our current status, roasting the coaches, players and administration over the fire like chestnuts it’s time to come together. It’s time for Sooner nation to rise up.

Last season when OU basketball looked bleak the team rose up and stunned a ranked Texas Longhorn team on Wayman Tisdale today. This is the same scenario, Saturday game on ESPN. Even fewer expect it to happen, but this is why you play the games.

This is the amazing thing about sports is no matter who is playing, who is ranked or not ranked anybody can win.

It’s a level playing field that can allow any one man or men to rise up at any given time and win.

It doesn’t matter what has happened the past 30 games for Oklahoma basketball. This Saturday there is no past or future.

There is the only the present.

For 40 minutes, the rankings, the wins and losses none of them matter. It’s all about 5 kids on the court at the same time, playing as one, overachieving and shocking the nation.

All we have to do is be better than Kansas for 40 minutes, just 40 minutes. That isn’t asking for much is it?

Their players are mortal; they’re not an invincible team.

Looked at what Kansas State did to them. With all due respect to Sys and Fatty if a bunch of purple wearing kitty cats can bloody the Jayhawks then I can’t wait to see what our Crimson cladded warriors can do to them.

Let’s do this for 1988!

BEAT THE JAYHAWKS ON SATURDAY!

I totally can see this being a repeat of last year's Texas game. We get hot from 3, who knows...let's go Sooners!
