Thoughts on Assistants

he's had his shot, don't think that's it

that being said, he's a great guy and with an asst title might be much more aggressive. Would not be a bad choice. I go back and forth.

Definitely had a couple of strike-outs.

Any word on CJ Noland yet? I know his family loves Carlin Hartman, but I kind of get the sense that they want to stay close to home so parents can see some games in person.

Maybe some competition from UT, Baylor, TCU, SMU, etc., but really hoping we can hang onto him. He's the kind of strong guard that will thrive in Moser's scheme.

It’s good that his 2nd place team was likely kstate whose program looks really bad rn.

He would have a lot more options after his senior season. Just hoping he's sold on Coach Moser.

Gibson, Harkless, Noland, Bijan, and Hill is a solid foundation to build on.

First asst is KT turner. Former UT asst.

Wow that’s a really good hire iyam! Guessing he chose OU and Porter over Shaka and Marquette.

Best assistant hire at OU since Lon’s final 4 staff was gutted . I’m very excited about the direction of Ou basketball .

1st Assistant hired

KT Turner - Assoc. Head Coach from Texas. Bulk of his time spent at SMU.

Anyone with insight into his recruiting?

Exciting times, Sooner 1234! Let’s get it, Porter!!

Dude has extensive JUCO ties as well, and went to school in OKC. Solid.

Anybody know if he has any specialties as far as coaching (ie, bigs, defense, etc.)?

On a 247 page it had a list of guys he recruited to SMU, and they were all guards. Shake being one of them.

I agree with the sentiments of everyone. A GREAT hire for an assistant. This is as good as an assistant you can get and the perfect first hire. It also shows you where his mindset is on what he needs, which is really good.

Larry Brown coaching tree and was responsible for Shake and Ojeleye at SMU, both of whom he helped get drafted with the development. Also look at the development of Texass players last year, something that has been lacking. Great recruits but in the past don't improve much. Look at Jericho Sims. Even Ramey and Coleman. A dIfferent player(s) at the end of the year than at the beginning. Can't help think Turner was a part of that.

You cannot spend time with Larry Brown and be Assoc HC under him and at Texass without being a good coach, and have great connections from his time in DFW and Texass. Not only has great Texass ties, but also roots to Hutchison and other JUCOs. Even sweeter is we did not give Beard any chance to retain him

This is a great first hire by Moser and makes me feel even better and more excited about him coming to Norman.
