Austin Grandstaff, a 6-4 shooting guard from Plano West High School in Plano, Texas, took an unofficial visit to Norman for the West Virginia game.

He's currently ranked 46th nationally in the class of 2014. His father, Wes, is big on the AAU scene as a coach.

Another visitor was Matthew Mcquaide, a 6-3 shooting guard from Duncanville. He's also a 2015 kid.

It seems like a lot of kids from Plano end up at OU. I wonder if he has any family connection? Regardless, I'm glad to see us in on some of the big regional recruits. Kruger sure seems to get the most out of his guards. I think if I were a top guard in the area I'd be looking at OU.

Found this article on Grandstaff. He transferred to Huntington Prep (West Virginia) but got homesick and returned to Plano. According to the article, he already has offers from several schools, including Oklahoma, plus he is receiving attention from a number of other high-major programs. Looks like a good prospect and a recruit we should keep an eye on.

Any relation to former AA wrestler Mike Grandstaff? Clarion State circa 1960.

That was a very impressive highlight reel for a freshman. Looks to have a nice touch, good range, and excellent court vision. Would be fantastic if he can continue to grow and we can snag him. Good luck to the kid.

Looks like Kruger is going to have us in on PLENTY of talented kids over the next couple of years. We may not land a top 10 kid, but I bet we get plenty of top 100 talent.

I couldn't find much on McQuaide, except that he and Grandstaff played together for Team Texas Elite in 2012. One blip on Rivals described McQuaide as a "shooter deluxe" with legit 22 foot range.

I like how our coaching staff gets in on kids like Grandstaff and McQuaide early in their career and stays with them throughout the recruiting process. If these two kids are an indication of our direction for the future, LK and his staff may be focusing their attention on bringing in shooters with range, similar to what Hoiberg is doing at ISU.

Grandstaff visited OSU when they played Texas and received an offer. His longtime girlfriend Niki McKnight will be a freshman this fall at OSU. She is on the soccer team

How can a kid in the middle of his sophomore year have a "longtime girlfriend" that's about to be in college?
