Traber says give Capel another year!

Of course Traber and Rosie want Capel back. I like James but he is so wrong in regards to Capel, his entire staff for that matter.

I got an email this morning from a source I am confident that would know. Joe is looking and waiting on the big man on campus to give him the go ahead.

I think Jeff's getting another year. I don't know if that's the right thing.

Sounds promising but I want to hear it from Chewy first! :ez-laugh:

I'm torn, but i think i do lean on the side of another year...

I think his chances of making it through that year are small, but for some reason i am just not sure it is the right time...

Personally, i think if we give him another year and we have an NIT or NCAA bubble type season next year it will look better to take over for a decent coach...

I dont think it can get any worse than this year (probably be proven wrong though)...

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I hope people will see my response for what it is and not what they make it to be.

You can't fire a coach after an NIT or NCAA bubble type season, especially a minority coach, and not come away looking terrible.

Look at the backlash from the firing of John Blake after his last team was 5-6 and was "improving".

The best time to do it is after 2 losing seasons.

If you make the NCAA's twice in six seasons at school that made 25 straight postseason trips before you arrived you should be fired, and no one could, or should complain about it.

Whether you're black, white, blue or orange.

Might as well keep Capel as I'm sure sanctions from the NCAA investigation are coming soon. OU has very few scholarships left even if a new coach comes to town unless the coach pulls a Calipari move and yanks a bunch of scholarships.

It is really sad to see how far this program has fallen.

I know it is Kentucky, but they fired Tubby after making the NCAA's every season he was there...

I am not saying i disagree with you about this, i am just think it is almost impossible for Capel to keep his job after next year regardless the job he does...just too many people that have given up on him...

But my rationale is for the program to be in decent shape so it is attractive to the next coach...a lot like a company i worked for that eliminated a lot of delinquent debt off it's books to look good so someone would want to purchase it...

Actually, I believe he resigned.

That program was getting stale in his last couple of years. BCG came in and made it worse. (Which is why I don't want him. He can't be our long-term solution). Now they've sold their souls with Calipari, who has delivered results and made them exciting and relevant again, but at what price?

Actually, I believe he resigned.

Maybe he did resign on his own...but very few times does that happen, usually they are pushed out and do that to save face rather than getting the ax...i dont know the specifics on Tubby though...

I agree with this 100%. I like Capel, I think he's a good coach, but it's time he's held accountable for the type of players he brought in and made our program what it is today.
