Tulsa beats #5 Houston

Nobody said Haith was a young up and comer, lol. Man, you guys know how to use the straw man with the best of them.

How about responding to any of the points I made? You shoot down what you claim to be straw man arguments but don’t respond to the ones that you apparently can’t counter.

You compared him to three coaches who were up-and-coming at the stage you cited for each of them. That was the whole point of that post -- taking a chance on an up-and-comer (whether or not you used that term).

No one's putting forward straw man arguments. They're responding to the nonsense (and lies) that you're spewing.

You're making this board your personal troll sandbox, and it's not the first time.

OU has to replace Billy Tubbs.... what a legend. Won 72% of his games at Oklahoma. Won the Big 8 multiple times. Made it to the National Championship game... Final Four... Sweet 16... Won 640 games in his career.

I know of this coach... very different from Billy Tubbs. His teams are tough, structured, very well coached, defensive oriented. They grind you down. He currently coaches at the worst program in the Pac-10. He's been to the NCAA Tournament one time in his career, and lost in the first round. 0 NCAA Tournament wins. He is 103-103 at Washington State, including a 48-78 record in conference play. Before that, he did pretty well at Montana Tech. Went 73-45 coaching the Diggers of Montana Tech.

I think this is the guy who should replace the great Billy Tubbs... I've been watching them closely. I know the record doesn't show it, but his style, I think it could work here.. He will have much better talent here, and when you match that with his coaching style, I think he's going to win quite a lot.

"How could you possibly make such a suggestion, he is nowhere near as accomplished as Tubbs!", says CoachTalk.

Well, I actually watched his teams play. I see their style. They are hard nosed. They rebound. I think it could work well at OU.

"But he's never won an NCAA Tournament game!!", says Skyvue.

I get that... we aren't basing the decision on his resume. But rather, on what we have observed. You have to take what you observe about his teams and decide if it would work well at OU or not. Can he recruit the area? Does he know how to win at this school? OU isn't like North Carolina, Kansas, Gonzaga, etc.

"Nope, screw that, the next coach must have a comparable or better career than Billy Tubbs"- CoachTalk

I just don't agree... I really think we should hire this Sampson fella.

"Because he's never won an NCAA Tournament game, he shouldn't even be mentioned in the first 50 names to replace Billy Tubbs"- BCSooners

You're wasting your time. These people defended Capel for years after it was obvious he was destroying our program.

I posted an opinion... You guys took issue with it, attacked, got upset, etc. I am allowed to post an opinion. You and your minions are doing what you always do, which is try to control the content on this forum.

That’s how you see it?

You started by saying Haith was better than Kruger. Made up stats. Got fact checked and then you “missremembered”

Then it turned into Kelvin vs Kruger.

Then you got called out time and time again and called people who defended a far more successful at far more superior universities with far less (none) NCAA investigations and punishments.

But we are the minions!

You’re wrong this time. Admit it. Answer peoples points.

If you want to have the kelvin vs Lon discussion. I’m 100% gonna pick kelvin.

Guy just does it for me on the court.

Of course you have a right to an opinion. But when you back up that opinion with demonstrably false info, blatantly cherry-pick what "accurate" info you do post, consistently "move the goalposts" and then falsely accuse others of resorting to "straw man" arguments, you're going to get called on it.

I would as well, but at least that's something which is debatable. They've won about the same number of games all-time. Lon has lost a lot more games than Kelvin, but he does have more NCAA tournament victories and one more Final Four. Again, it's a fair debate. I have no issues discussing reasonable debates. But for heaven's sake, if a coach is in my age range (I'm 57) and has won only one NCAA Tournament game, please don't wish that guy on OU.

In 1994, Kelvin did not have the resume of a Billy Tubbs because he was 20 years younger. Billy was an icon at OU, but he was burned out, and ready for a change of scenery. Kelvin was a young coach who actually just took the worst program in the Pac-12 to a #6 seed in the NCAA tournament. As such, our fan base was open to him coming aboard. How that compares to Frank Haith is beyond any wild dream I can come up with.
