UNT extends McCasland contract

Man... 35... I guess Riley was younger when he took over...?

If it's Kellen, we can all say we watched our coach when he was a ball boy at OU. He took that job very seriously!

Did anyone read the article? This new deal bumps up his total pay to about $800k. I’m sure OU can still get him if he’s our guy. We can easily pay him $1.5 million or more.

Dude is just trying to hedge his bets and using us as leverage to do it IMO

My take on the article is he signed in January and they are writing a new unsigned extension . Even a 40% increase should give him a reason to jump.

It sure seems like a lot of football coaches and admins have been "congratulating" Kelvin, Kellen, Hollis and Quannas for this Final four run. It seems like this is setting up a Kellen hire.

At this point, it seems inevitable.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy about this. Was not stoked about the idea of bringing him here.

More coaching experience as an assistant than Juwan Howard and Penny Hardaway combined, and those hires look pretty good.

Those are former NBA players who utilize that to their advantage in recruiting. If Kellen had Blake's NBA career, I'd be all for it. I can't see Kellen recruiting anywhere near their level (and Penny has been downright shady), but if he can recruit Houston, I'm on board to bring him in.

I feel like if McCasland was high on our list, things would be wrapping up.

I just can't get excited about the guy. He is probably a solid coach, but I just feel like his ceiling is still pretty low. I'd rather we make a riskier hire, and try to elevate the program.

If McCasland was high on OU’s list, I don’t think he would agree to a contact extension at UNT. Nothing about that makes sense to me. That seems to suggest he was high on every list except the one that counted: Joe C’s

Do you think Kellen or Quannis would be a risky hire?
