USA Today Poll Sooners #9

What does NIT mean in this context. Given your post after this, not NIT for
Kentucky. Something else? NIT back then?

Cauley-Stein.
And Osby would have been a better 3 than lyles.

Cauley-Stien? The FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN and projected top 6 NBA draft pick?

He'd steal minutes from him?! :facepalm

Look, I LOVE Romero, he's my 2nd favorite Sooner of all-time. But he would NOT crack that rotation.

Okay sure, lets talk about that.

That season, the ONLY rotation player that Kentucky returned was a sophomore Kyle Wiltjer. That was it.

THIS season, they return Alex Poythress, Tyler Ulis, and Marcus Lee who were all in the rotation, plus a 4-star Derek Willis who will get lots of minutes this season.

And THAT season, they lost Nerlens Noel for the entire year to a torn ACL. He was projected to be the #1 draft pick.

AND before Noel got hurt, Kentucky was ranked in the Top-25. Don't believe me? Check it out

If Noel hadn't gotten hurt, Kentucky was looking at a 5-6 seed in the tournament.

Losing Noel, AND they lost Willie Cauley-Stien for about 7 games late in the season IIRC and he had to have surgery as well.

Add all those things up? You get a down year.

None of that will happen this year.

That 1st team all american had 2 points against a true big man in Kaminsky in 33 mins.

If we had Cauley-Stein instead of Osby(his senior year), OU doesn't make the tournament!!!!

Come on now, there is NO WAY that anyone can honestly believe that :ez-laugh:.

I mean, there's just no way. The kid was a FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN and will 100% be a top 10 draft pick.

And besides, everyone knows WCS is far more of a defensive presence than offensive (a la Tyson Chandler). Kentucky had the #1 defense in the country this year, anchored by Cauley-Stien.

This argument is becoming pathetic on your end.

Are you serious?

Stein is a better player/prospect than Roe hands down. As far as not making the tourney with him instead of Roe I'm not sure I don't agree. That Sooner team needed Roe to get 15-20 points a night and I'm not sure Stein could have done that. He also missed 6 or 7 games down the stretch that would have been a killer for our chances. Stein would have clearly given a huge boost defensively.

OSBY showed up every game for us. Did Cauley-Stein do the same this year?

So they return 2 guys from rotation instead this next year. And that team may have only had Wiltjer on that team that played the year before but they had Harrow redshirting and you can say he wasn't any good but just look what he did at Georgia State. He was McD AA as well. And they also had Hood redshirting as well. And Cauley-Stein only missed 4 games that year.

They had Goodwin, Harrow, Cauley-Stein, Poythress, Mays, Noel(for 24 games), Hood, and Wiltjer and they struggled in a conference that only got 3 teams in the tournament that year. And the only teams they beat with Noel were crappy teams. They even lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT. Don't tell me they didn't have the talent.

You can say Kentucky was top 25 with Noel...But with Noel they didn't beat a single ncaa tournament team. Fill free to look that up.

PG - Harrow(5*)(RSO) v. Ulis(5*)(SO)
W - Mays(3*)(RSR)(TR) v. Briscoe(5*)(FR)
W - Goodwin(5*)(FR) v. Poythress(5*)(RJR)
P - Poythress(5*)(FR) v. Lee(5*)(JR)
P - Noel(5*)(FR) v. Labissiere(5*)(FR)
1 - Wiltjer(5*)(SO) v. Matthews(4*)(FR)
2 - Cauley-Stein(4*)(FR) v. Mulder(JC)(JR)
3 - Polson(NR)(SR) v. Hawkins(3*)(JR)
4 - Hood(4*)(RJR) v. Willis(3*)(JR)

The teams look very similar and without knowing the outcome of that year...I would take roster one over roster 2.

Are you serious?

Even when the rest of the team didn't show up in the tournament against SDSU, Osby still gave us 22pts and 8rbs.

When Kentucky needed Stein against Wisconsin, he gave them 2pts and 5 rebs.

If Osby was a few inches taller, he would have been a lottery pick. Cauley-Stein is a lottery pick b/c he's 7'0.

What's your point? Being 7'0'' and athletic means you can defend, rebound, block shots, etc. Being 6'7'' means you are going to get owned in the paint.

Yes he locked down every game. He was the best defender in the nation.

Thats great. The best defender! He is a excellent shot blocker.

He averaged the most minutes on this Kentucky team and he was 5th in scoring, 2nd in rebounding, and 2nd in block shots.

Osby led in points, blocks and rebounds.

Don't let the fact that Osby's height has prevented him from being a nba player. He was dominant in college.

and now you lose all creditability... ;0

Whats funny is that with Cauley-Stein and all the other lottery picks, they couldn't get thru Wisconsin. I guess you would take Cauley-Stein over Kaminskey b/c he will get drafted higher than him?!?!

Yeah there's a reason he led them in minutes despite only being 5th in scoring. Because he was the best defender in the nation. That's like saying Jimmer is better than Tony Allen because he scored more on an inferior team.

The best defender got destroyed by a better player!

Kaminsky only had 20pts and 11 rebounds on Stein.

Yeah a great player had a great game, doesn't take away the fact that Cauley-Stein was the best defender all year.

If that is your criteria, Osby couldn't get out of the first round against San Diego St
