I assume this is referring to Bowling Green.

But Ohio State might be moving on as well. They're playing awful basketball this year.

Skeptical hippo.

He did interview with Texas while he was still coaching OU.

But I agree that he's probably trying to get more money for his assistants at UH.

He's made UH a good job (or restored their program) as it is. And it's going to get better once they're in the Big 12.

I think he's too old to make that move. He doesn't need to go to UT. I think he also appreciates what UH did for him in giving him the opportunity to come back. As long as he and Tilman Fertitta are happy with each other, he'll stay at UH.

The one wildcard is that Kellen is coach in waiting at UH. If he goes to UT, his son can take UH over. Would just have to do it in a way that doesn't piss off UH too much, but given the roster continuity his son could assure, I think that might be easier than usual.

UT could offer him the moon and stars. I'm officially worried

If kelvin takes the texas job, that would be nauseating.

Meanwhile, OU leadership doesn’t give 2 ****s about OU basketball.

in 98 ? i didn't remember that

Yeah, he did. That was the main reason some OU fans never really warmed up to him in spite of his great success there. Most thought it was because of his offensive style, but Kelvin did spend a lot of time in his first 4-5 years at OU interviewing for other jobs...I know NC State and Illinois were two others around that time...but interviewing at Texas angered many.

Other than just money, I don't know why Kelvin would want the Texas job...he can obviously recruit and win at Houston. Plus, if he wants Kellen to succeed him at Houston, that might not be honored if he leaves for another job as opposed to retiring.

He's had great success at UH, but UT would bring the talent level to another level. If he plans to coach another 5-10 years, I don't see Kellen wanting to stick around. If Kelvin wants to retire in 2-3 years, taking the UT job obviously wouldn't make sense. If UH doesn't honor the Kellen agreement, he'll raid their whole roster.

Did Kelvin turn down UT after interviewing or was it UT's choice?

While Chris Beard has been talked about, I would label Dusty May (FAU) as the early favorite.

How pathetic/disgusting of a program do you have to be to hire Beard the same calendar year he was fired for what appears to be domestic violence episode between he and his girlfriend?

Correct. He interviewed with UT before Rick Barnes was hired in 1997.
He also interviewed with NC State before Herb Sendek was hired in 1996.

Don’t think I ever really forgave Kelvin for interviewing for Texas job. Wish he hadn’t done that.

Going to be a lot of these in the next week+.

After Idaho's last game...
